| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Pours nice dark, cloudy brown with a big light tan head. Aroma is slightly yeasty with sweet candied dark fruit in the background. The flavor is a more pronounced version of the aroma. Strong raisin/date flavor, slight sweetness with a little yeast. The alcohol is warming going down but is not overpowering and does not detract from the flavor. deyholla (520), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2009 On tap. Pours medium brown with a small whitish head. Smells of a bit of alcohol, chocolate and bread. Quite complex tasting, with flavors of malts and sweetness. Pleasant after taste. Not my favorite Belgian, but it is very enjoyable. sirPino (855), Zawiercie / Żywiec, Poland

Bottle brown, 330 ml
Appearance: Pours deep and dark mahogany brown with dark ruby shades, very opaque, murky, not see - through, very weak but natural carbonation, head is initially small, slowly decreasing to minimum but stil lasting, no lacing, rather non - dynamic appearance with nothing extraordinary to admire.
Aroma: Very strongly aromatic beer, at first coocoo candy, moderately alcoholic, hiding veru robust and strong, essential character, woody - nutty touch (especially wallnut), notes of raisin, resin, Porto wine, strong spices, leavy, herbal hops (really well hopped beer), red wine grapes, flowery accents, especially rose. When it comes to malt there is a definitley caramelly - toasty to roasty character, fat yeasty character at tha background, raspberry, cherry, wildberry, black current, pine, forest fruits, prune, plum.
Flavour: Again like in other Chimay beers very strong taste at front hits you with alcoholic warmth, full body, great deal of yeast, fat wheaty - malty sweetness, additional dark and roasted malt, off spins of top fermentation, prune, plum, forest fruits with black currant and cherry on top, raisin, rasin, other red fruits, very complex and more and more alcoholic towards the end what is positively manifested in the warmth on palate making other complexities of flavour alive and kicking. Finish duration is long.
Palate: Body is full, texture is dry, carbonation of the body is weak, finish feel is heavy but pleasant alcoholic and highly astringent, very clean and pleasant. jaghana (102), Strasbourg, France
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2009 Bottle 33. Brow dark colour with a nice head. Nice malt flavour, complex and sweet body, yeast has a nice fruit aroma which is very present. All aroma are smelling better once the beer is going heater. Greate trappist beer ever. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Pours a dense, opaque, dark brown with a beige head. Quite a lot of silt dwelling in here. Warm aroma of raisins, peach, green apple roasted malt, and a lot of yeast. Flavor is dark fruit and yeast, with plenty of sweet malt and spices. Alcohol warming on the finish. Yummers. judasbeer (240), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Deep nut brown, mahogany color with fully lacing tan head. Complex fruity aroma with dominating plums, and alcoholic dried fruits. Mild sweet raisins, plums with slight sugar candy and gingerbread edge. Medium spicy finish with some herbals and coriander. Very smooth and delicate with well hidden alcohol, but far away from Rochefort. NomDeBeer (399), Maryland, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Aroma is dominated by bread and yeast. Color is a medium brown with a thin white head. Taste is caramel, plums, raisins. No bitterness at all, with only a slight trace of alcohol. Could use a little more body and less carbonation. Another Belgian beer I don’t like.
