COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Heel donker met een mooie langblijvende kraag. Helaas smaakt het een stuk minder goed dan het er uit ziet. Ruikt een beetje zoetzurig, smaakt vrij dun en waterig. Tis gewoon niet mijn bier dat chimay.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours cloudy brown with a beige head. Smells of candi sugar, malt some spices. Tastes of a heavy sweetness with a fruity tartness. Medium carbonation. Oily texture. Finishes tart but wet. Okay.

One of the best! Pours like a thick brown ale with a wispy brownish head. The aroma doesn’t do justice to the beer but gives hints of spice with a whollop of caramel malt. The first taste you get is the spicy, peppery head on the front of your tongue, followed by the dark candy sugar and caramel malts mingling perfectly on the middle of your tongue. If there is one flaw I can find with this beer, it’s that you can’t leave it sitting on your palate for too long or the carbonation overwhelms the sweetness. But I’m only nitpicking because this beer is awesome!

0,33l bottle from Snaps galéria, Budapest. Hazy orange brown color with creamy light brown head. Sour-sweet malty, grape, banana, citrus, spicy, cheese-butter aroma. Medium bitter-sweet taste. Full body with average carbonation and creamy texture. Long fruity cheese, dry finish. Very special and unique beer with unbelivable aroma. I like it so much. It’s unbelivable what the Belgians can do with malt...

Poured a cloudy brown with a light tan head. Aroma is raisins, yeast, and a hint of alcohol. Taste is fig, raisin, caramel, and dark bread. Good sweet and bitter balance. Lively mouthfeel. Alcohol is concealed almost entirely.
