sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2008 Courtsey of Tony @ OTH.
Pours brown/amber, with brownish head.
Aroma, filled with dark fruits and sugar.
Taste, dark druits (cherry / prune) and malty. Los of sugar / licorice sweetness.
Excellent balance, close to a Westie12, a little darker in content and texture.
This is a big beer, very drinkable, a good sipper, gets better as it warms up. Lalli (149), Helsinki, Finland Oct 21, 2008 Nice hazy brown color. Arma includes alcohol, yeast and spices. Flavor is also spicy with hints of liquorice. Very complex brew that tends to grow on you. ajwilliams (118), , Indiana, USA Oct 20, 2008 Updated: Dec 8, 2008Lives up to its fancy bottle and big reputation. Big crisp aroma of brown sugar, dark fruit, and yeast. Flavor is sweet and malty, and never musty. Definitely worth a try, if only for the great looks and superior mouthfeel. Miamifan1354 (19), , Delaware, USA Oct 20, 2008 From bottle to Trappist Glass. Pours dark brown with no head. Smells of Fruits and candies. Taste was strong with heavy sugars and coffee. Some Chocolate and then an alcohol aftertaste. Over all, pretty good beer. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 This is one of those beers that just gets better the closer to the bottom of the glass you get. The spicy pepper sensation at the end blows me away every time. Heavy brown sugar flavor early on and the alcohol comes to the top a little but not in an obtrusive manner. Very very tasty. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Oct 18, 2008 Brown pour, hazy with a light tan head. Chocolate and alcohol aroma. Chocolate malt flavor with some alcohol on the finish. Very mellow and easy to drink despite the alcohol content. Didn’t think it was really anything special. jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 18, 2008 Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Dark reddish brown with off-white head. Fruity aroma of raisins. Sweetish taste. Full mouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. enjoylife (1), lees summit, Missouri, USA does not count Oct 17, 2008 overall very good. Small hint of alcohol aftertaste. Best flavor as beer warms towards bottom of glass.
