COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Poured from a 11.2 oz. bottle into a Chimay goblet. Appearance: Pours an opaque dark brown. Has a 2 finger foamy tan head which dissipates fairly quickly. A little bit of sediment floating on top and throughout the beer. Minimal lacing. Smell: Nice malty sweetness with strong notes of dried fruits. Taste: Excellent blend of malt and dried fruits. Light hints of alcohol at the finish. Nice dried fruit aftertaste. Absolutely delicious. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a decent amount of carbonation up front. Fairly dry finish. Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. This is one to be enjoyed slowly. The high ABV is masked by the delicious flavor so this one could sneak up on you. Overall: One of the best beers I’ve ever had. If you see it, buy it. I can’t recommend this enough.

(bottle) cloudy brownish colour with medium tan head; initial aroma of reminiscent of champagne, then bit of caramel, dried plums; balanced flavour, well hidden alcohol; very competent but I would not rave about it

This beers pours very dark with an abundant white head. The taste is of roasted barley, brown sugar, and carmel. The alcohol content, although higher than most beers I drink, did not seem obtrusive. The spices in this brew are very complex and continually changing. The aftertaste lingers on to infinity...a true classic.

Moderate malty aroma. Large, off white head. Good lacing. Mostly diminishing longevity. Brown body. Light sweet and moderate bitter flavor. Medium palate. Good beer I like it.

Aroma is delicate, slight plum and cherry notes. Hazy dark amber, head thins out to a white line, no biscuit. Smooth malty, med-high sweetness, low bitterness with no alcohol. High carb, but smooth with a touch of warming. Damn good beer.

750mL. Big smooth creamy head. Carbonated highly to perfection. Surprised by how straight forward this is. Not super estery, fruity, spicy, but enough. And it is all well balanced. NIce malty richness, but obviously quite dry.

Beautiful to look at. Especially as it sits in the Chimay trappist glassware. Dark brown in colour with a large white bubbley head. Floral and fruity in aroma. Dark fruit and malt taste. Not going to re-invent the wheel here, what has been said about this beer with forever be said...in is just fantastic.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a nice biege head. Aroma of caramel, yeast and some florals. Tastes fruity, malty and a touch sweet. Barely noticed the alcohol. Fantastic.
