Poured from distinctive 11.2 fl.oz. tapered brown glass bottle. Hazy orange colour with sudsy beige foam, everlasting with lace. Aromas of husky grains, coriander and sweet citrus, apricots, honey, fresh baked bread. Flavour the same, grainy, biscuity, plus faint black pepper, clove, slight caramel sweetness but with a surprisingly crisp dry hoppy finish. Not overly spiced, but it is indeed a nice enhancement to a sessionable table beer. Light body, strong carbonation, lingering malty/citrusy/tangy aftertaste. Easily an everyday drinker but also wonderfully complex, a near-perfect beer. Magnificent!

Bottle 33cl. Hazy yellow, gold with a loose white head. Sweet aroma, honey, malts, yeast. The taste is surprisingly bitter and a bit watery. There’s a weak sweetness later on but the aftertaste is full on bitterness. Not bad, but not what you expect.

Beh dopo tanti anni sono riuscito a bere la dorée, e sinceramente non mi è dispiaciuta, bel naso fruttato, e in bocca non troppo carbonata e di buona beva.

Type: 33-cl bottle (11.20-oz.) Glass: Clear 16.5-oz. Belgian ale glass From: Alpine Liquor in Alpine, Calif. Price: $3.99 (originally $5.99 I think) Purchased: March 7, 2016 Consumed: March 8, 2016 Misc.: No BOD on bottle Have always wanted to try any type of Chimay, but the price was usually too high for my liking. Found this one for $2 off at the local liquor store and had to pounce on it. Poured a golden, orange, hazy color with five fingers of white, rocky head, which dissipated rather quickly. Looked like a lot of small pieces of pulp underneath the top, but I know it’s not. Minimal wet spotty lacing on the sides of the glass. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled coriander, orange peel, caramel, honey, citrus zest, lemon notes, grassy hops, hints of Belgian peppery spices and dried apricot. (Smell - 4.00) Taste somewhat followed the nose. Got coriander, orange peel, apricot, honey, citrus zest, lemon juice, freshly mowed grass, sugary sweetened iced tea and powdered orange sugar. (Taste - 4.00) Light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Fizzy carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 3.75) This was really good. Kind of reminded me or of a Witbier, but either way this delicious. (Overall - 4.00) 3.95 89 B+
