Bottle, Gent, Trappistenhuis, May 2005. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, caramel), lightly yeasty (mold). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation. Simple and rather bland Belgian amber.

Bottle at PIB 2016, pours a hazy pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out light biscuity malt and Belgian yeast. Flavour is very restrained, with Belgian yeast and light biscuity malt. Very mellow but clean and refreshing. Solid.

A good Chimay, a bit different then their others. Pours a muddy red-brown. Smells of Apple, plum and cherry. Taste is sweet and fruity, some earthiness with a bit of tart. Sweet smooth finish. Had in the bottle at Hotel Mandap in Kathmandu.

Draft to taster at The Pint Room. The beer menu lists it as 4.5% abv. Looks solid; a completely transparent light gold with white head. Smells of Belgian yeast and floral hops with a semi-sweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with some mild grassy and fruity hops as well. Mouthfeel is medium light-bodied. Not bad, but forgettable.

330 ml bottle into glass. Continental, Newtown. Sweet, toasty nose. Amber beer with film on top. Zingy and fresh. Like a Chimay lager. Fizzy and fun.

Tåkete, lyst gyllent med høyt skum. Mye nyslått gress i duften sammen med umodne epler. Samme i smaken som kan bli noe anonym. Kjeksaktig, tørr avslutning.

Served in a snifter from a 330ml bottle. Pours clear gold with white slowly diminishing head, medium amount of lacing. Aroma is yeast, bread, caramel, orange peel. Taste is bread, caramel, yeast, bitter-sour finish. Medium body with medium carbonation, very well balanced. Very smooth and would go very well as a session ale (which is a nice change for a Trappist beer!). Nice one!

Hazy yellow-orange body and a small lasting white head. Aroma of oranges, honey, pine, yeast and herbs. Nice. The taste is well balanced medium sweet and medium bitter with a good bitter finish. Creamy texture.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 Sweet apples peaches fruity belgian yeast aroma. Very light blonde color almost white, very bubbily. Light body, spicy, oranges, interesting finish with some minty herbs. I really like it. It?s nothing like what I expected. Somewhere between an easy drinking low abv blond and a wit beer. Chimay can do no wrong.
