Es quizas la mas floja de todas.Muy justa de aroma, apariencia .Una cerveza notable no obstante.Pero que va mas hacia la abadia que el estilo trappist.

Very slightly hazy pale golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, metallic iron, light hops, fruity yeast, banana, candy sugar and bubble gum. Light sweet malty flavour, light bitter, quite fruity. Quite light body. Light bitter finish, very fruity, light wheat touch.
Quite typical Chimay yeast aroma combined with a sort of German hefeweizen character. I quite like it.. even if there’s a bit of iron in the aroma, what I do dislike quite a bit.

Draft 33cl.

Only one place you can get this, I had it on tap at the Auberge de Poteaupre as an accompianment to my food. As I was driving, it was also the weakest beer on the menu :) Nice blonde style ale served at the inn and in the abbey to the monks.. Tart, tangy and bitter with sticky lacing. Very fine carbonation....different from their heavier beers, but still very good.

Bottle @ Ölrepubliken. 2008 vintage. Pours hazy deep golden with a small white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace. Smell is  sweet with cereal, plums, dusty soil, oatmeal, orange zest, lemon zest, silage and yeasty bread dough. Taste is slightly sweet with cereal, lemon zest, dry soil, hay, dusty oats, dry leaves and hints of plums and grapes. Mouthfeel is crisp, watery and light bodied. Finish is tiny sweet with cereal, orange peal, dry soil and hay. Probably better fresh.

(330ml bottle). Pours murky golden yellow with yeast precipitates and a small transient white head. Light honey golden malts on the nose with traces of spiciness. Medium sweet on the tongue with a short dry finish. Light to medium body with a rather disappointing watery texture. Frankly there is not very much to get excited about here - it is an average Belgian blond ale at best. Methinks that the Chimay brand and the difficulty in obtaining this beer (ie. only sold at brewery tap) have caused it to become highly over-rated on this site.

33cl, at 4.8%Vol, as Chimay (dark brown label), exclusive Trappist, from the brewery, complex brew, malty/spicy and slightly sweet, easy to drink, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, nice brew

Great exclusive Chimay, only served at the Auberge de Poteaupré, 300m from the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont. Has pale golden colour, complex aroma and a pure malt taste. Worth the trip.

Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt! 2007 vintage The appearance is orange hued and slightly translucent. The beer is full of carbonation and appears extremely effervescent. I thoroughly enjoyed the aroma, which is rich with yeast and citrus scents. The flavor is tasty, though the aroma is even better. The body is extremely thin, giving the beer a watery feel on the palate. While this may adversely affect the mouthfeel, this ale is extremely drinkable, and it would be easy to throw back a few of these in a session. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-11-2011
