Aroma was a little lacking. Taste was extremely smooth and well balanced. I’m a fan but not blown away.

33 cl. bottle @ Kulminator // very, very hazy, extremely yeasty apricot coloured with a stable white head // smell carries lots of yeast, touch apricot, very hay heavy, touch barnyard // taste is totally dominated by the yeast as everything about this beer suggest beforehand, oodles of yeast, nice consistency, quite fruity, getting some apricot, light malt & candy sugar sweetness, lots of hay, dash barnyard & mellow spices // don’t care what the reviews say or the rating, this is such a lovely & delicious beer to drink // pure yeast pleasure, by very far my favourite Chimay // love

Golden pour into a tulip glass with a nice creamy head that lasted but left little lacing. Aromas of candy sugar, citrus, zesty spicy belgian yeast and a field. Tastes very nice, orange zest, spice, pepper, light grassiness (field) and slight bitter finish. Light and fluffy on the palate. Soft and nicely carbonated. Overall this is a very nice beer that I would have guessed to be a Witbier. Either way it went very nicely with mussels!!

Post Borefts I jaunt to De Heeren van Liedekercke. Light golden beer with a few bits in it! Light musty nose which spills in to the taste. Light lagerish malt. Finishes semi dry. Nothing special, a bit rubbish to be truthful. Would this get a second look without the Chimay name? I doubt it!

0.33l bottle from trade with BelgBeerGeek. As Chimay is one of my favorite Trappist brewers, it’s a understatement to say that I have been looking forward to trying this! It pours a orange-honey-golden body packed with tiny floaters all around and it has a big but fading and sidesticking big-bubbled just off-white head. It smells at first a bit dusty, spiderweb in the attic and cellar-ish, but after the head has settled down I also find some fruity tones of floral-apples, Belgian yeast and mackerel! My god, it actually smells a bit like mackerel! Different and exciting! It has a light and near fluffy texture in the mouth - almost like drinking a cloud, and it’s average carbonated. Flavors are light "Belgian" and somewhat wheaty. Have they had wheat in this? I get some sweet banana-bready flavors, a little bit of yeast, leafs and it’s leaving a mild dry tongue. Yeah, this was worth the wait. A tasty Belgian! 16.05.2012

This is not Chimay’s best offering, but it shouldn’t be... This one is what it is intended to be - drinkable, sessionable for the monks (or us!) and light on the palate. Citrus/fruit and mild pepper notes. Tangy on the palate and crisp finish. Not the best beer you’ll ever have, but a nice drinkable offering.

Gift from SJ. Not chimay’s best, but a nice brew. Some good notes of bread, dark fruit and spice.

33 cl bottle.
Pours hazy golden color with a large white head. Grassy and very lemony aroma, some yeast and spice notes too. Grassy, yeasty and spicy flavor, some earthy notes as well as some faint toffee. Very strong carbonation, spicy bitter palate. Refreshing but a tad too strong carbonation.

33 cl bottle @ Bruges.
