2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear orange golden body (hazy if the bottom of the bottle is poured) with an OK off-white head. Light and fresh aroma of yeast, hay, fruit and citrus. Fruit and hay flavor, quite thin and a little tame. Lacks some bitterness.

33 cl. bottle; served in Chimay chalice.
Slightly hazy, orangey golden color. Moderate white head. Pleasant, fresh, delicate aroma. Taste is soft and rather subdued; there are slight citrus notes and a decent freshness. Thin, watery finish. Pleasant, tickly mouthfeel. Very good drinkability.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
An unclear dark orange beer with a fine but collapsing head. The aroma is sweet and pretty complex with notes of alcohol, wood, fruit, and metal. The flavor fruity with strong notes of plms, oranges, and coriander. The mouthfeel is very carbonated almost like a sodapop - and a little thin - especially compared to the ohter Chimays. A very fresh beer - this would make a great session beer if it was marketed.

Bottled. Cloudy orange color, large lasting creamy head. Aroma is orange/citrus, hoppy, bit spicy and yeasty. Taste is refreshing, citrussy maybe, bit malty. Very nice, easy to drink Chimay brew!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 1, 2006 Re-rate: Wow, much better than the first few times i tried it. Wonderful appearance, cloudy yellow-orange coloured, lasting head. Yeasty and hoppy aroma, nice but could be a bit stronger. Very nice hop-bitter flavour, some yeast. Pleasant bitter palate. A bit like Orval. Perfect starter for an evening of drinking beer. Original rate: (3.7) Bottled. Cloudy orange appearance, firm lasting head. Nice hoppy aroma. Flavour is a bit one-dimensional, but the bitterness makes it very suitable for drinking during hot weather. Nice brew!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This one has got a nice body, dark orange to brown colour. The taste is very light in comparaison to the other Chimay beers, but that's not what it is about.
The taste is nice, very smooth, although I think mine was in principle too old to drink (2001), so I think most of its taste had decomposed.

Purchased at Cafe 't Jagershof on 5-16-03. Bottled version. Nice amber body with a creamy white head. Bitter, dry aroma. Slight spice. Pleasant taste. Yeast, light malt, spice, and a bit of earthiness. Wonderful taste. Smooth finish with a slight spice and hop aftertaste. Great beer.
