Heavily sedimented dark golden pour wears a gentle white cover. Light aromatic qualities offer shy esters and grainy, toasted bread reminiscent malt character bathing in a muddled yeastiness. Slightly vegetal, mostly in the nose which seems to happen with most Chimays I try recently (every other month). Grows watery in mouth where rather stale malted grains and bready yeast pair along with mellow floral and powdery lemony hops. Light-medium body, heavy carbonation, easy-drinking straightforward belgian session ale that reaches no heights.

[Bottle, Best before 2007] I’m not sure about the initial conservation and the shipment conditions. Cloudy golden/orange with a large white head and low lacing. Thin and watery. Vegetal, mineral.. its very deceiving for a Chimay (yeah, thats why they dont sell it you tell me)

Any first impressions?
-A feathery head falls onto the cloudy golden.
-Aroma-wise, a nascent vegetal character melds into the salty hops and fruity yeast.
-Loose cereals and complacent carbonation create a lazy mouthfeel.
-Flavors offer most of what the aroma announced, slightly vegetal, sparse hay, and mineral yeastiness.

What if you dig deeper?
-Why would I do that?
-This is a light, very drinkable ale with boring flavors and a lifeless disposure.

Bottle; best before 2007.

a non transparent murky orange color to it with a large bubbly white head. very nice sweet sugary grapfruit aroma. This is what a good cremesicle would taste like if they made them good. Very smooth, impressive.

Bouteille, 33 cl, Kulminator, Janvier 2006.

Off-white, creamy head with a good lace. Mostly lasting. A murky, orange-brown body. Weak nose of hops (grass) and malts (reminds a little bit of young Orval). Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly bitter finish. Lightly bodied. The flavour is not very outspoken, I’d even say weak, but the palate is still nice, due to some typical Chimay flavours in the background.

Pours a medium dark amber. Aromas of orange, caramel, and some spice. Flavors are sour, orange, clove and other spice. Not a favorite style.

After all I went through to obtain a bottle of this, I was hoping for something a lot better than what I tasted. Pours orange with a whitish thin head. Smells of sugar and bananas. Taste is sweet, but thin.

Golden brown color, light white head with peaches, oranges and tobacco in the nose. Smooth mouth of oranges, apples, peaches and yeast. Like a weaker version of their White. How this is rated below Westmalle Extra is beyond me.

Hazy honey orange body with medium offwhite bubbly head. Sweet refreshing, bubblegum aroma. Light flavor of milky bubblegum. Soft, thin watery palate.
