0,33l bottle @ Vihreä Haltiatar. Pours clear golden with a medium head. Aroma is malts with some yeast. Flavor is pretty similar. Quite ordinary but then again I guess it was to be expected.

En klassisk belgare. Fruktig och lättsam. Noll beska. En trivsam sällskapsöl, men kanske inte heller någon stor upplevelse.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden with a nice frothy head. Fruity and floral aroma. Sweet, caramel, fruity and spicy notes, mild bitter finish. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. Decent brew.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours hazy and pale, with a froth head that quickly settles to a thin layer. It’s not a looker - it looks terribly thin. Those poor monks had to do with the second or third runnings... It looks like a wheat beer but the thin head tells the truth that there is none or very little wheat in the malt bill. The aroma is more promising. The chimay yeast comes through in a way we don’t feel it do in the other beers, where it is hidden behind more flavorfull malts. It’s sweet and citrusy, maybe some butterscotch hints too. Very entising. However, the flavor lets the beer down. It is thin. The pilsner malt cannot carry the taste alone and the hops comes in to play first string. In the back of the mouth some of the citrus is still there but is a refreshing beer at best. Just not enough flavour. High effervecence and light mouthfeel puts the closing chapter on a negative note. I understand why it was a beer for the monks only.

33cl bottle into tulip• Lille. Appearance: hazy pale golden liquid. Puffy cloud of white head. Good retention. Aroma: yeast, bread, citrus, pepper, coriander, floral notes. Taste: sweet, then somewhat sour. Palate: Thin. Thick texture. Good carbonation. Short palate. Overall: interesting that it doesn’t resemble the other chimays at all. I expected a watered down version if the tripel but this beer is completely different. The pepper surprised me the most. An interesting beer. Decent flavor for the low gravity.

Flaska från SB. Gyllenfärgad, klar, ljust poröst skum. Blommig, lätt parfymerad doft och smak. Lätt kropp, tydlig vetekaraktär, lite mannagryn, blommig hibiskus och tung blomdoft, pomerans, citrusolja, lätt efterbeska. Någonstans mellan blond och wit. Riktigt trevlig.
