3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours hazy and pale, with a froth head that quickly settles to a thin layer. It’s not a looker - it looks terribly thin. Those poor monks had to do with the second or third runnings... It looks like a wheat beer but the thin head tells the truth that there is none or very little wheat in the malt bill. The aroma is more promising. The chimay yeast comes through in a way we don’t feel it do in the other beers, where it is hidden behind more flavorfull malts. It’s sweet and citrusy, maybe some butterscotch hints too. Very entising. However, the flavor lets the beer down. It is thin. The pilsner malt cannot carry the taste alone and the hops comes in to play first string. In the back of the mouth some of the citrus is still there but is a refreshing beer at best. Just not enough flavour. High effervecence and light mouthfeel puts the closing chapter on a negative note. I understand why it was a beer for the monks only.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours clear golden with a big white head and nice lacing. Strong herbal and spicy aroma with a good dose of citrus, some floral and honey notes, hints of soapiness. Light well balanced taste, malty notes on top followed close by carbonation sharpness and light spicy bitterness. Light body, medium to high carbonation, slightly milky texture. Light, aromatic and refreshing, but a bit too herbal/soapy to me.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle. Pours a clear, pale gold with a very slight yeast swirl at the end and a one finger white head that thins to a thick, bubbly film. Aroma has great notes of spice, clove, citrus, slight candy sugar and bubble gum, and Belgian yeast. Very nice. Taste is balanced well with notes of spice, Belgian yeast, citrus, faint bread, and a short, spicy ending. Medium body with a high carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a bone dry finish. Overall a nice, lighter, highly carbonated golden Belgian. Light a lighter version of their triple.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours hazy straw color with a tight, pillowy, 1-finger white head. Aromas of earth and hay with a note of spice, maybe coriander. Body is on the lighter side of medium, with a dry finish. Flavors of grass and earth with a touch of lemon. Mild spice note as it warms.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clove, crisp apple, light pepper & spices. Lively carbonation, medium body, light phenols. Coriander, subtle bitterness, dry & spicy. This is the model for all "light" beers - its only 4.8% but packs more flavor than many others well above that ABV (bottle BB 12/2017)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Flesje tht 2015 thuis gedronken in mei 2016. Goudkleurig, helder bier met romige, stevige schuimkraag. Hoppig en fruitig aroma, de smaak is bitter hoppig en citrusachtig met een hint van honing. Licht sprankelend in de mond. Smaak vloeit licht uit.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Really nice round yet crisp ale, has a touch of lager ’edge’ unexpected but still a gorgeous apple fruit and creamy texture, pale malt, honey. Spicy phenolics are round, barely clovey/peppery, sweet and subtle. A staple at the Abbaye de Scourmont and rarely sold elsewhere, this is a nice fresh bottle from the LCBO.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml bottle from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Hazy light golden with a full, fluffy white head.
Aroma: Spicy phenols, celery leaf, very light fruity esters, a bit of bright herbals, minerals.
Palate: Medium-light body, very full carbonation.
Flav.: Herbal, slightly fruity and lightly spicy, celery seed, a touch of floral honey, quite interesting for a “light” Belgian; dry with low to moderate bitterness and a drying, grainy malt and lightly fruity/spicy finish.
Quite an interesting brew. Almost a quaffable beer...

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bouteille 33 cl. Bière de base de chez Chimay mais pas du tout une bière basique. Belle apparence, beau nez, belle effervescence, bon goût, belle finale. Donc, une bonne bière ! :-)
