COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Zoete geur van pruim, vijg en wat banaan; smaak combineert zoet, zuur en bitter. Prikkelend op de tong, met zachte nasmaak waarin de vijg terugkomt. Een aanrader bij kaas.

This taste is quite strong. The taste is more bitter than sweet. It has a subtile fruity taste. The most positive thing of the beer is the appearance: dark red and clear.

Big head. Full nose, scents of citrus, wheat and hops. Tastes a little bitter, wheaty, citrus, and hop taste in there. Great deep amber color. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark caramel brown, slightly hazy with rich creamy beige-colored foam head. Thick, lingering, Yeasty nose. Toasted nut, stone fruit, malty. FlFull body, hogh carbon. Malty. Dried apricot, bread dough, a slight woody tang. Harmonic. You know you drink a beer.

33 cL bottle from a Trappist glass. Reddish brown pour with a small white head. Bottle was an absolute geyser. Aroma has some light, confectionary notes and light dark fruits. Taste is mostly a roasty malt profile. Some light notes of dark fruits return in the aftertaste, but bready yeast is definitely the star of this show.

33cl bottle - pours opaque brown with copious tan head and decent lacing. Nose is yeast, pilsner-like and barley. Aroma is alcohol, light hops and caramel malts. Taste is sweet and ends a bit bitter. Medium body and thin texture. Again, I am disappointed in another Chimay. It’s a good beer, but I don’t see how it has such high ratings.

Inviting aroma, notes of pear and apricot. Similar yeasty smells as a home brewed wort. Head, bubbles, and carbonation at a medium level. Not as intense as 7%ABV would suggest, medium body with a lengthy, slightly bitter aftertaste. Round and creamy texture with a tongue coating velvet feeling. Pulling sweet, bitter, roasted and malty flavors. Complex, rich, and well balanced. Appreciated.

(bottle). A Belgians go, this is a standard. A solid staple unfortunately, it does not set the high bar for the Dubel style. Nice head and lacing. Aroma is a traditional pleasant malt. Flavor is fruity with Belgian malt and yeast ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
