COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

EXP. 2014, has been lying in a basement for a couple of years and gains incredible taste. Cereals, yeast and malts, get even better with the years. I reckon we drink our chimays way too young, a beer needs to rest before it gets opened!

Pours a very dark copper colour, hazy with a nice looking thin white head. Wonderful aroma, fruits, caramel, very well hidden alcohol. Sweet, but bitter finish. Medium body. Creamy texture. Good carbonation due to refermentation in the bottle. Overall an amazing abbey dubbel, perhaps not the best of all the Trappist beers, but definitely worth every cent (which, by the way, are a lot of cents...). Salut!

Beautiful Trappist with surprisingly light amber color for a Dubbel style. Quite fruity on the mouth.

Bottle. Pours clear dark red with a quickly dissipating fizzy white head, Aroma is very mild with apricot, banana, strawberry, sugar, bubblegum, red berries, spice, clove and raisin. Taste is light+ sweet, bitter and light tangy. Body is light+, texture is thin, carbonation is much too lively. Finish is watery but super dry and short except for some light heat and astringency. The finish reminds me of drinking carbonated water with big bubbles - it´s semi-acidic and dries the mouth out.

Amber dark orange colour with creamy beige head. Alchool and red ripe fruit aroma. At taste is sweet with caramel and fruit flavour.
