COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Dark amber colour. Aroma of caramel malt and dark fruits. Similar are flavours of malts, caramel, dark fruit, and herbs. Low carbonation and bitterness, with sweet malty finish.

Not much pleasure drinking this. A little flat. Nothing to worry about but nothing great either.

Classic Belgian trappist beer. Tastes great, fine aroma, great hops, could do with a little less carbonation, though. Classic label, too.

It looks, smells, and tastes delicious. So smooth and creamy. Very flavorful yet easy drinking. Complex, dark fruit, caramel, malt, hop, a lot of subtle flavors. Easy to drink quickly but best to relax and truly enjoy the outstanding quality of this excellent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, 33cl. Sparkling copper with a foamy offwhite head and very nice lacing. Sweet fruity aromaa with hints of citrus and Belgian yeasts. Medium to robust bodied with fizzy carbonation. Sweet with moderate bitterness. Pleasant fruity malt character with a complex finish. Very nice,

Pours a dark red with a rapidly dissipating head. Overpowering pine with a hint of cherry. Really a disappointment for a beer rated this high.

Chimay chalice. Wonderful, smooth drinking dubbel. Has a bit of hops, unusual for a Trappist product, a yeasty smell and a dark fruity taste. Robust, complex, thoroughly enjoyable entry from Chimay.
