Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Excellent brew! This is a choice that has converted many commercial domestic beer drinkers! It’s one of the tastes that micro brews yearn for! Smooth, warm and filling. Subtly sweet and swallows mellow with no sting to slow you down! Fresh baked bread and the noted apricot pleasantly greet you! Relatively inexpensive considering it’s origin. Available everywhere! Great selection!

33cl bottle on 08-Nov-2015, poured into a stemmed Trappist chalice glass. Hazy reddish brown colour with a tan coloured head. Aroma of apricot, malt and caramel. Soft carbonation and medium body. Flavour of sweet fruit, malt, and caramel sugar. Plum and apricot. Sweet fruity aftertaste.

Fat på Örebro Öl & Whisky Festival. Mörkbrun vätska med fingertjockt beiget skum. Doft av belgojäst, micropop och smör tillsammans med kola, torkad frukt och lite kaffe. Ungefär samma i smaken. Lagom stor kropp.

Draft poured at craft beer market in Edmonton. Pours red with a white head. Smells sweet, like dark red fruit. Taste is complex: peppery, sweet and a little spicy. This works. I quite like it.

,33l pour from chilled bottle into stemmed pils glass all the way here in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Pours with a huge fluffy light-tan head, quite fluffy. Nose is sweet, fruity, apricot, raisin, plum, candied fruit. Smells delicious. Medium body, creamy, a little of a papery feeling. Taste is wonderfully layered and complex. Fruity notes, sweet notes, bitter notes, woody notes. Lots going on here. Love it every time.

Bottle from Beers’n’more. So that’s how good a dubble can be! Interesting and predominant malty malts, very sweet, some fruit (banana throughout), crisply carbonated, perfect balance between all that. A classic!

Bottle @home. Nose is brown, slight haze and a tan head. Nose is toffee, candy sugar, yeasty, blackcurrant and a touch of apple. Taste is toffee, fruity, malty a tiny touch of nuts right at the back end, nice.

Copper colored, unclear. Nice frothy head. Smells of vanilla, caramel, toasted bread, and a touch of yogurt. Nice smooth caramelly flavor. A bit on the sweet end, but enough bitterness to keep from being cloying. Not as much yeast fruitiness as I’d expect, but good nonetheless. Well hidden alcohol.

Pours a brown tinged with copper from a bottle, thick crema colored head, lots of lacing, slowly dissipating. Aroma is difficult to discern through the head. Flavor is a slightly peppery, fizzy, spicy fruitiness with some nearly burnt toffee note hovering in the background. Not overly boozy, but lets you know that some alcohol is in here. Very good beer.

The perfect autumnal beer. Amber/red with a pale foamy head. Smooth liquorice with hints of apricot and a lightly smoked taste, followed by slightly bitter hops and a dry, but refreshing aftertaste.
