Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

bomber poured into my maredsous chalice a: hazy amberish brown, nice 1/2" foamy head with fair retention s: nice dark fruit, slight biscuit, slightly achoholly scent t: a nice sip of cherry, raisins, perhaps hint of plum, caramel malt well balanced with bitterness. slight achohol when chilled but as it warms (or I warm) is less noticable. m&d: medium mouth feel, finished the 750 ml with no problems amd a slight buzz.

Dark carmel color, rich apricot aroma. Strong sugars and very pronounced carbonation. Finishes well. More carmel and less leafy flavors

Had this in conjunction with another belgium dubble and ommegang. Found this to be the middle of the two. Like the style like the spicy fruity flavors.

Aroma of caramel, dates, and yeast. Opaque burgundy colour. Flavour of honey, figs, nuts, and soy sauce. Medium body with mild carbonation. Quite a tasty beer!

33cl bottle in branded glass. Brownish red with frothy, soapy head. Aroma of yeast, malt and some mud. Pours perfectly, and looks as a perfect Belgium dubbel should look like. Not transparent, thick and smooth. A taste you can distinguish. This is good, but I love the blue one more. Also, this is rather traditional dubbel to my taste, and when compared to, say, La Trappe, this is much nicer.

Dark hazy amber with a large light brown creamy head. Light but pleasing aroma. Aroma is cherry, dark fruits, malts, and raisins. Medium body. Smooth initial dark red fruits taste, followed by a lingering light malty taste. No bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazysh deep amber color, big white head with low retention. No lacing. Medium to full body, soft to average carbonation. Aroma of yeast, malts, dark fruits, raisins, alcohol. Medium sweet taste with slightly dry finish. Very good but not my favorite Dubbel.

33cl bottle thanks to ruigo. This is not the first time I drink this beer and it is curious that in a year apart and from different places the beer varies both in color, taste and aroma... When drunk at Belgium was more red, aroma was very fruity and very noticeable the red fruits. The today has some aroma of red fruits, prune, caramel and some nuts. The head of the first was more white, from today was more beige and lasted less time, the level of carbonation is medium and medium body for both. Aftertaste is sweet and longer for the today beer. Is promised a new trial in Belgium for the tie ...

From a bottle. Pours a deep brown, lasting head, distinct aroma with a hint of vanilla, very smooth and malty with no real bitterness.
