COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with a big creamy, persisting beige head. Aroma of roasted malts first, ripe fruits, raisins, caramel, cane sugar, artificial sweeteners after a time. Yeasty. Taste is sweet with some hop bitterness and a little sourness to balance it. Medium bodied, oily. Medium long sweet caramel finish. The caramel is too sweet and not burnt enough, really. Nice Dubbel, deep sweet but just not cloying.

It’s copper color, very hazy, with enormous small bubbled head. Aroma is malty with delicate note of strong alcohol. In taste it’s also malty. Beside that it’s sweet and alcoholic. For me it’s rather dull.

Very fruity aroma. Heavier beer with a strong malt flavor with a very slight hint of fruit.

Big, spritzy and floral. Subdued Belgian yeast. Pleasant balance between astringency, acidity and bitterness.

Pours with a nice cream head, aroma is nice with a apricot overtone. The copper color is pleasing. Mildly sweet with a slight bitterness at the finish. A great sipping beer before a meal.

On tap at Niks Wunderbar. Pours a cloudy red with thin head. Hint of dried fruits, figs, raisins. Dryness shines through as it warms. Not extremely complex but enough malt to balance the dry finish. Love it.
