Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Hoppy nose, great head, beautiful appearance. Slightly bitter taste, but not that complex. Difficult to nail the right words. Citrus flavor?

My first Chimay. Pours a lovely blood orange color with a thick white head. Moderate lacing left behind. Aromas of red fruit. I’m decidedly underwhelmed by the aromas in general. The palate is more lively and in addition to the red fruit there is a subtle toffee undertone. I was expecting a bit more from my first Chimay given the reputation that precedes them.

A Blend of caramel, malt and dark fruit on the nose. This is a smooth and rich Strong Belgian Ale, featuring caramel, figs, ripe berries and malt in the taste profile. The balance reflects the skill of the brewers and the medium body and fine effervescence add to the quality of this beer.

Considering this is the entry level Chimay offering, it is still outstanding. When I'm feeling a bit more casual, the Premiere Ale never disappoints. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Donkerbruine kleur, weinig beige schuim. Aroma van fruit, perzik. Smaakt fantastisch, beetje zoet, fruitig en bitter. Topper.

A bit cloudy - maybe poured in the yeast....copper colour. Tastes as expected. Browny Belgium. Would drink again but not amazing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: alcohol, peach. Appearance: hazy ruby color, nice beige head. Taste: medium bitterness (alcohol), peach, roasted malts. Palate: full body and high carbonation, bitter alcohol finish. Overall: I am strongly disappointed. Only alcohol and nothing more.

750ml bottle from the LCBO. Hazy deep amber pour with a big tan head.Nose is quite fruity with notes of yeast and some spice. Sweet carame and honey l start with some bread and a hint of cloves. A bit of bitterness balnces things in the finish. Full creamy mouth with active carbonation.
