3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Temptation (126) - - NOV 29, 2012I can’t understand the renown of this beer (not Chimay, but Chimay Rouge). It’s very correct in all aspects, the look is perfect and the aromas are very well integrated. But the mouthfeel is too light, watery and, in my opinion, very bland for its style. Biscuit, malts, caramel, even species, but all so tiny, with such short development, that I think that is one of the most flat beers in its style. Maybe the problem is mine...
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ShivanDragon (482) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - MAY 19, 2013
#33cl
bruin, helder met schuimige witte kraag
aroma: rood fruit, fruitig. abrikoos
smaken: medium zoet, matig bitter, sterk, stevig gefruit, normaal gemout
medium body, romig, laag co2, afdronk : zoetig
ietwat lichte ondertonen, ik vond de Val-Dieu Brune die ik ervoor had gehad net wat beter !

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 PriorL (255) - BELGIUM - MAY 14, 2013
33cl bottle. Pères Trappistes.
Appearance: dark brown beer, nice stable off white head.
Nose: very fruity, some sugar, something like peanut smell? very strange nose, had to describe.
Taste: bitter finish, rather fruity, little wood like, some malts, some dried fruits. But a strange dry out effect in the mouth, almost like putting flour on my tongue...
Though, decent beer altogether!

Bottle - can’t remember where in Brussels. Pours very dark but due to the unneccesarily moody lighting in the bar I couldn’t say exactly. Smooth liquorice and fruit cake. Not as full bodied as the bleue, which I prefer.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber orange with some head and a little lacing that is moderately lasting. Aroma is caramel, dark fruits, spices and alcohol. Overall quite complex. Flavour is moderately bitter with a long finish and a decent sweetness. Medium body with quite a large dose of carbonation.
