3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Excellent caramel color, smooth with mild flavor and top shelf taste, would love to drink it again but it?s too pricey at $9 per 12 oz. bottle from local bars, over $100 per case from distributors, it?s just not that good.

Deep amber to ruby, slightly hazy. Beige, persistent head. Aroma of dark caramel, toffee, flowers and buscuits. Slightly fizzy mothfeel. Well balanced. Taste of caramel biscuits. Refreshing rather than sweet.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer is one of the great beer that is easy to get very in terms of distribution and cost-effective first. It is a taste of the basics of Trappist beer, but again surprised the good that it can try to return to drink also has a complex flavor. Fit very well in recipes and it is a thing which is easy to drink to people of beer novice.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours amber red with a small off white head. Smells nutty and caramelly, tastes the same and for me kind of one noted and quite boring. The trappist yeast flavors are not present and this is for me just boring lightly toasted malt with some earthy caramel nuttiness.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber color. Aroma is yeast, dried fruits. Taste is lightly roasted malt, spices and apple and raisins. Essentially no hops. I enjoyed the yellow a lot more, but this is obviously an excellent beer.

The first beer tasted in a delightful evening of stating and scoring Belgian Trappists beers. I don’t read the beer notes above before marking which probably explains why my description differs greatly from what I am supposed to taste - maybe it’s my palate..? Anyway, I got some lovely rich velvety chocolate / coffee undertones which complemented perfectly the dark brown colour.
