Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Very nice beer with a fantastic contrast of southern fruits and carefully choiced hops. I really enjoy this beer until the last drop and last piece of foam. This is best possible food drink with Mulles frites.

Pours a hazy orange brown with a thick head. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Aroma is fruity with lots of apricot and subtle hint of nuts and some banana. Taste is mildly spicy, with a hint of apple and a hit of cloves. Good beer!

Fairly large off white head, though it diminishes quickly. Beer per se is a tawny color and quite cloudy. Aromas are bready and doughy, along with some fruit, perhaps plum or apricot. Hops are quite mild. Body is medium to full; there is a fair amount of sweetness, though it is masked by pretty lively carbonation. The alcohol is quite apparent. Seems fairly acidic, though it may just be the carbonation. A good beer; interesting in that the yeast seems as prominent or more than the malt.

Uitgeschonken in Chimay bokaal.

Dark amber colour. Aroma of caramel malt and dark fruits. Similar are flavours of malts, caramel, dark fruit, and herbs. Low carbonation and bitterness, with sweet malty finish.

Not much pleasure drinking this. A little flat. Nothing to worry about but nothing great either.

Classic Belgian trappist beer. Tastes great, fine aroma, great hops, could do with a little less carbonation, though. Classic label, too.

It looks, smells, and tastes delicious. So smooth and creamy. Very flavorful yet easy drinking. Complex, dark fruit, caramel, malt, hop, a lot of subtle flavors. Easy to drink quickly but best to relax and truly enjoy the outstanding quality of this excellent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
