Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

"malty, dark fruit and a little spice in the nose and flavor...more subdued than i was expecting. tasted with the blue and white-this was #2 or 3. good, but there are many doubles out there more interesting."

On tap at Vancouver Craft Beer Market in Vancouver. Served in signature stemmed glass. A very decent dubbel, though I’m far more interested in tripels and quads generally. Slightly fruity, quite malty. 3.6.

By far one of the most unique and classic of the Abby ales. This is a standard in my house.

Buona birra, scura sull’ebano con schiuma color cappuccino. Odore di malto e vaniglia, uva sotto spirito. Non molto dolce all’imbocco, non trovo malto ma solo un po’ di prugne e tanta astringenza, quasi resinosa. Buono il retrogusto , all’uva. Birra OK, consistenza oleosa e corpo medio, rotondo. OK, niente di straordinario però. Buona beva

750ml bottle poured in its own chalice. A: Nice bottle art, a classic. Imposing wired cork with a bright red label. Pours a cloudy dark amber to brown color with a medium beige head. Medium retention. It never disappears completely leaving not much lacings S: Sweet on the nose. Brown bread, candy sugar, dark fruits (mainly plums), caramel malts and Belgian yeasts T: Follows the nose. Brown bread, caramel malts, yeasts and a delicious hoppy and bitter end. Just a little bit of alcohol can be felt M: Medium to heavy body. Creamy and molasses. Medium carbonation and reasonable bitter aftertaste O: Delicious Belgian Dubbel. Mandatory to Belgian beer lovers [ BA Review @ 4/25/2011 ]

One of my favorites of all time. Appropriately cloudy and brownish red. Fruity and spicy aroma. Rich flavor - hints of apple cider and other fruitiness. New rating, despite the warnings that this beer is on the decline it still has very far to go before it declines even into the "merely good" range.

Mnie osobiście nie zachwycił. W smaku i z wyglądu wodnisty. Zdecydowanie poniżej oczekiwań.

cloudy reddish-brown color; fspicy, dark fruit aroma; a smooth, fruity dubbel with notes of dark fruit, apricots, raisins, and cherries, as well as nice Belgian yeast notes; smooth and pretty easy drinking for the style; an extremely tasty beer

Hipster, overseas. The champ!! Wheat here like in minimal quant. Almost cherry like alcohol on the back of throat. Champagne beer ...not miller...real champagne. Readily available so at your fav carne casa, it is there. Best with a big piece of red flesh and a creamy sauce.
