Plamadude30k (122), Tucson, Arizona, USA Jan 28, 2009 Pours a milky amber color with a fine white head. Rather yeasty, but retaining the creaminess common to Chimay beers. The carbonation is more pronounced that I would have liked, perhaps, but this doesn’t ruin the beer. Ryan82SM (231), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jan 28, 2009 Yeast for miles in the nose. Tart orange as well. The appearance is very cloudy with a fluffy white head. Sweet flavors, plums, raisins, spice and a prominent maltiness. The palate burns but finishes with a spicy flourish. About what I expected, but still had some surprises. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Jan 27, 2009 Updated: Nov 2, 2009On tap at the club on Halloween while I was dressed like a guido. I should have been drinking Heinekens and jager bombs, I know, but f*ck it, I wanted something good. Hazy golden color with a creamy white head and great lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, wheat, pale malt, and some spices. Very yeasty taste with some citrus notes, pale malt, wheat, muscat grapes, and mild hop character. Medium palate with soft carbonation that is befitting of the style. Overall one of the best tripels out there. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 25, 2009 Orange in color with a thick off-white head. Aroma is heavy in yeastiness with some spiciness as well. Taste is spicy with some grain and yeast. watson1977 (250), , Pennsylvania, USA Jan 25, 2009 very nice cloudy golden honey color with a thick creamy white head. spicy coriander aroma with orange peel and mild hoppiness. citrus is evident in the flavor with notes of coriander and black pepper. nice spicy hoppiness but not overdone. mouthfeel is very creamy and the finish is spicy and dry...slightly reminiscent of a saison. bookman10 (84), Osseo, Minnesota, USA Jan 25, 2009 Wasn’t prepared for how much I liked this one. Pale yellow color. Nice, thick, white head. Citrusy aroma and complex flavor, with some spice and fruit notes. This one’s a keeper. amneziak (18), Olathe, Kansas, USA Jan 24, 2009 Updated: Feb 8, 2009Aroma: Dried Apricot, Honey, Over-ripe Banana, and Orange Peel. Appearance: Very nice warm amber color with a bit of cloudiness. There is a presence of yeast floating in the beer. Head forms nicely but does not get out of hand. Maybe one solid finger of head. Flavor: Nice amount of bitterness hits the tongue immediately, and is accompanied by a good deal of carbonation. Once down, I get a lot of the honey and orange aspects. Palate: Not an overly heavy beer, but it definitely has some teeth. Good amount of carbonation (with very tight bubbles), too. Overall Impression: I like this one quite a bit and it’s readily available if you are traveling and just want a reliable beer to enjoy. Not quite as remarkable as the Grande Reserve, but not far behind, either. GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Jan 23, 2009 Draft (monks) Poured into a trappist glass. Light orange in color good head. F-ing super smooth, wow. Nice light orane/lemon wheat taste. Light hops as well. Texture was perfect, light creamy, low carbonation. Simple but great beer.
