Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

750 ml. bottle. Pours a thick creamy head, with good retention, and wonderful lacing, color honey yellow....nose more pine, floral hops than anticipated, also slight malts, spice, and perhaps a bit of honey....initial taste is malty sweetness, then floral plus spice, coriander, cardamom and ginger primarily, finishing with a lingering hop bitterness. The floral fruity spice is less and the bitter hop finish greater than other triples I have tried, so it is somewhat different, but still well within the style.

Murky tan coloured beer with large, long lasting creamy head. Sweet malty aroma. Excellent carbonation. Dates, vanilla and malt leads to hops and an alcoholic and slightly bitter finish. Tasty but not worth its rating.

Well, I’ve said it before, but true european beers, with the exception of Samuel Smith, have just not been my cup of tea.(or beer!) Had this on tap at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor MI. It poured a golden amber, with a thin head. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just not what I look for in really good beer. I’’ve had la fin du monde, and a beer called sapient trip ale, which are very similar to Chimay, and I thought they outdid the belgians at their own game!

Lots of pumpkin-like spice, fruit floral notes and caramel in the nose. Banana, pumpkin, earth and smoke with peppery notes following up. Nice velvety finish.

Very rich and spicy, the strong flavor is a delight. fresh hops softened by the yeastiness.

Bottled in New York. Chimay Blanche is a very nice Abbey Tripel. With a soft golden color and a nice white head, this is a very attractive brew. The aroma is light with notes of sweet fruit. The flavor is the same with a light, drinkable finish. While I enjoyed this beer, I have come to expect a bit more from Chimay. I think i would still choose a Blue Moon in a casual setting.
