unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jul 27, 2008 Pours a cloudy gold with a lot of yeast floating in the beer and a big, foamy head. The aroma is of mild hops, not bitter, just lightly fruity and fresh, and some sweetness from the malt as well. Flavor follows the nose, mainly tasting fresh and fairly light. It is somewhat sweet, with a dry, hoppier finish. This beer is very subtle, with nothing ever being aggressive. Very nice. espenra (277), Oslo, Norway Jul 27, 2008 33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. It poured an orange colour with a medium white head that settles down fast in the glass. The aroma is fruity and smells of hops, wheats and citrus fruits. The flavour is dry and bitter and tastes of malts, alcohol and citrus. It has a short aftertaste. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Jul 26, 2008 Nice golden color with a great white head. You can smell the hops and a kind of dark citrus aroma well before glass reaches your nose. Feel great in the mouth and flavor compliments aroma. Finishes with a touch of bitter. MelbBrewersJD (32), Australia Jul 23, 2008 My favourite of Chimay’s offerings. Lovely citrus flavours that keep you wanting more. A bench-mark for the style. Wegro (218), Fresno, California, USA Jul 22, 2008 Updated: Sep 5, 2008this is the first triple i’ve ever had. Poured darker than i expected, a dark cloudy gold with shit floating around. the head was beautiful and rocky and white. flavor was very fruity with a medium body. moderately bitter with dried fruits in the finish and flavor. very good but nothing life changing going on.
BoBoChamp (1334), Gent, Belgium Jul 21, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex Trappist, good balance, hazy, rocky head, good brew, but not a topper Crunchie (35), Somerset, England Jul 17, 2008 Had a much fresher version than I have been drinking recently and it really showed in aroma. Real hop aroma, some resin and citrus combined with a distinct clove character. Lots of hops race around the palate, oranges and spices and a full malt body all interplay on the path to a dryness and bitterness that last. Perhaps with some black pudding or soused mackerel? I have always had a fondness for the slightly hazy golden tinged orange colour. It looks great and strangely perfect in a Chimay glass. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2008 Taste 7/8 Murk Orange, nice lacing foam. Aroma: Citrus, plum, yeast. Taste: Crisp, full, yeasty, sweet, sour, fruity. Cohesive and smooth. Nice
