Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Hazy orange pour with a HUGE head and decent head. Good retention and great lacing. I found the aroma to be very odd... fruity but also reminding me strongly of crayons. Malty, fruity taste with strong caramel and touches of grain and plastic.

Poured from the bottle, cloudy orange and almost honey colored. Nice frothy cream colored head that left a bit of lacing. Mostly hops and a hint of fruit and spices came through for me in the nose, but the taste was much spicier than I expected - lots of clove and coriander and a fair amount of bitterness. Good beer, but not nearly among my favorite tripels.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange/gold with a fine solid whitish head. Nose is sweet and earthy, very very slightly alcoholic and just a bit astrigent . Taste has some bite to it- spicy, and fruity, bread, dry, yeasty, with lingering bitter finish. Alcohol extremely well hidden. Certainly a nice complex tripel and well balanced, more so than the majority i’ve tried. Aromas seem weak compared to other dubbels and tripels

7/08/2008: Chimay Triple does not have the typical thin, sharp, and overly strong characteristics that I have come to know many Triples to have. Instead, this beer has a much more full body, a cloudy, deep golden head with a nice and lasting beige head, and a really fruity, yet balanced aroma and flavor. There is a distinct citrus presence in the flavor as well as sweet, fruity malt and yeastiness in the front, some light spice, bread, and dry grape-like quality in the middle, and then just enough hoppy flavor and bitterness in the finish to balance everything out and add some complexity. The strength of the alcohol is lost in all of the other wonderful flavors. This is a great beer that really exceeded my expectations.

250 ml draught at Bodega in Columbus, Ohio. Rating #1492 for this beer...

Bottle, Massive white head. cloudy yellow pour. Smell is hoppy, yeasty and can atleast also distinct orange in it. Taste is fruity and the bite almost rolls of your tonque. Having sampled this quite few times during my years i think im still far away from grasping all the small nyances that this beer has to offer. But everytime its been highly enjoyable.

Poured a lovely deep golden brown. Plenty of floaters promising something special. At first whiff i thought i’d mistakenly opened a bottle hoey. In fact, I’d go as far as saying this is a ’special brew’ version of said white beer (strong taste of alcohol - too much for my liking) . Lots of herbs (coriander of course), and oranges and lemons abound. Extremely fizzy; dancing on the tongue like raindrops bouncing off tarmac. This is a kind of beer that gets better after you’ve already supped a few. There was a trace of freshly mown grass. Quite sharp on the finish and the alcohol gets more intense as you reach the bottom of the glass. A smattering of banana? My least favourite of the Chimay range.

Pour was a hazy brown golden with a small but creamy white head. Aroma was strong with fruit, floral characters, and belgian yeast spices. Flavor was spice dominated with more floral characters and a sweet finish. Carbonation was average and smooth. Good brew. Would buy again.
