mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Apr 26, 2008 bottle. large off-white cramy/rocky head (almost completely lastlng) with great lacing into light brown body with dediments aflowin’. aromas of candied sugar, lemongrass, and yeast. flavor is sweet throughout with a touch of bitter at beginning. great hop/yeast/malt balance. great mouthfeel (very soft). short to moderate finish duration. above average carbonation. Excellent. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Apr 25, 2008 High carbonation. Orange to amber in color with a big foamy head. Yeasty, spicy, and sweet in the smell. Much of the same from the smell is in the taste. Pretty good. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 25, 2008 Seriously one of my all time favorite beers. It’s even better when paired with its own cheese. Cookie dough malt background with some light lemony zest, and a bit of white candi sugar glaze for the sweetness detected on the palate. This is absolutely delicious. Brouwser (119), gatineau, Quebec, Canada Apr 22, 2008 De mémoire. Quelle allure !
oteyj (716), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Apr 21, 2008 Pours dark hazy amber with incredible lacing and modest head. Aroma primarily of beligian yeast, and lemongrass. Flavor is well balanced and fufilling while still maintaining a high level of drinkability. Great flavor, great mouthfeel, and great aroma- great offering by Chimay. craftycarl21 (513), South Hero, Vermont, USA Apr 21, 2008 hazy amber coloration with nice frothy head and great lacing. I’m very excited for this beer, as i have enjoyed what i’ve had from chimay and i’ve never had an abbey tripel before. aroma reminds me of a belgian white, but strong and very yeasty. very smooth flavor of yeast and slight hints of lemon and alcohol. nice dry finish, really delicious beer very different from my usual beer parousals. really really nice, especially as summer starts up. WesKBob (317), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Apr 21, 2008 Pours an opaque dark orange color with a very thick head even after a gentle pour. Very yeasty aroma with hints of fruit. The flavor is very sweet at first, but tarter fruit flavors and the alcohol bite quickly take over. A nice smooth drink. Not my favorite Belgian, but still very, very solid. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 20, 2008 Updated: Jun 15, 2008Poured a cloudy amber color with white frothy head. Yeasty aroma with cotton candy? Nice compliment of sublte favors. Smooth. Initial yeast taste with a hop aftertaste. Didn’t seem fruity as described. Full taste with a very soft bitter aftertaste. I do prefer the Red and Blue but nice beer.
