Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

aroma is of yeast and some tropical fruits. a bit sweet but not offensive. appearance is closer to golden (translucent) then blonde. flavor is quite sweet and plenty estery... setting it a bit apart from the other trappist tripels. palate is not as dry as the others either, while yeast is present it doesnt mop the moisture from your mouth like some do.

Great Belgian triple. I’m a sucker for the style and you all know this one already. More complex than Blue, for me, and when served on tap, hops come through. Beautifully made beer.

Tap at PIB. Pours a lovely orange with yellow highlights and a tight white head. Aroma full of yeast, coriander, honey. Flavor is very spicy, coriander and pepper and some yeast and light honey. Has a nice snap to it that I very much enjoy. Would love to do side by sides of the three Chimay beers someday.

Bottle. I have had this a few times and hadn’t yet rated, so here goes. Pours a vibrant golden color, very hazy, and has a half inch white head. The aromas are nice, yeast and apricots dominate. Flavors include fresh bread, coriander, honey and some great hops. The palate is pretty close to perfect, refreshing yet solid. This one had been stored for awhile, and felt like it had some serious alcohol, but no alcohol flavors. Great beer.

On tap @ Trion Tavern. It was decent. Not really what I was looking for though. I’ve had several tripels that I like a lot better.

Tap. This beer didn’t live up to the hype, but w.o concern of price, this is a good beer. Aromas of pound cake, banana, clove, wheat pair with the taste. Not too overwhelming though, and I bet there are way better tripels out there.

draft at Public House 7/15/09. Pours a crisp but cloudy golden orange color with a fluffy white head. Nose is yeasty and musty with some light fruit notes of apricots and peaches. Palate is full with light carbonation. Flavors of light must and fruit like the apricots and peaches noted above.

Tap at Bier Circus (Brussels). Nice light body, with cinnamon maybe ginger overtones. A great, spicy beer that defines the style.
