Aroma / Appearance - Rich bitter chocolate, bread yeast, a hint of fruitiness and some barnyard tones. The body is a deep walnut brown with a one-finger head that foams then dies.
Flavor / Palate - Buttery coca, subtle hop esthers and a low-key bitterness precede the main flavors of creamy caramel and sweetness. The alcohol is distinct but not overpowering. Every sip grasps the corners of my mouth and refuses to let go for minutes. This was extremly easy to drink with a dry, creamy finish. I might have to try this again in the larger bottle - I am sure I could finish it off just as easily as the smaller version.

Aug 20, 2008 Pours a mildly hazy golden color, nice pleasant malty aroma that was kind of doughy. Taste was rather spicy with a bitter aftertaste. Nice smooth palate, overall not a bad option.

Aug 20, 2008 Nicely spicy aroma and a very interesting mouthfeel, reminds a bit of orval despite not being as good. The foamy head looks gorgeous. This is not one of my favorites but still a very interesting beer with the yeast and hops bringing a lot of originality to this brew.

Aug 17, 2008 yummy. The beer pours a hazy goldn yellow with a thick head and a great nose. i get orange and yeast and spice off the nose. the mouth feel is very lively with a great taste of orange yeast banana and spice.

Aug 16, 2008 Delivers a hazy golden orange body with a brilliant three fingers of foam that is extremely compact (very meringue-like) Nose is dominated by orange and spice with some white muscat notes also prevailing. Palate is medium bodied but seems quite full, almost creamy. Banana and orange fruit notes are dominant with substantial spice, namely anise. There is also a hint of white pepper present that compliments the spice in adding to a slightly dry, earthy finish.
