craftycarl21 (194), South Hero, Vermont, USA Apr 21, 2008 hazy amber coloration with nice frothy head and great lacing. I’m very excited for this beer, as i have enjoyed what i’ve had from chimay and i’ve never had an abbey tripel before. aroma reminds me of a belgian white, but strong and very yeasty. very smooth flavor of yeast and slight hints of lemon and alcohol. nice dry finish, really delicious beer very different from my usual beer parousals. really really nice, especially as summer starts up.
Nik925 (136), California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Has the perfect yeast smell! It is a solid example of the style and well made. Tried and true, certainly a great beer but nothing amazing. The orange-y-ness is very pleasant. (Ingredients: wheat starch and hop extract???? WTF???) Nothing that amazing. lithy (150), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 5, 2008 Cloudy golden pour with a billowing cream colored head. Small brown floaties. A nice yeasty nose and a heavy bready spiciness. Sharp on the side of the tongue. Dry and creamy with a lasting hop finish. I’m a fan of the more subdued spiciness in this one. nbutler11 (163), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a cloudy orange from the bomber with a soapy off-white head. Mild yeast on the nose with caramel, apple, and faint cream in the flavor. Rich lacing with heavy sediment, yet unexectedly watered-down for my taste. armando629 (391), Budapest, Hungary Sep 2, 2008 Orange-amber hazy body with a beautiful foamy head. Nice appearance! Like the aroma...After a few seconds the beer opens its own perfume. Delicious spicey-floral hop, freaky vine-must and fruity vanilla aromas. Complex texture with a good balanced hop in the flavor, nice spices like clove, cinnamon and coriander, rich body of top fermentation and various kinds of malts. Well hidden alcohol, strong hop, dry finish, beautiful character! everettvh (24), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Aug 31, 2008 33cl bottle. Hazy orange color with off-white head. Distinctive spicy aroma, with cinnamon and banana. Flowery. Taste was fruity, raisin. A distinctive, memorable dessert beer, though not one I’d want to have in quantity.
