Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Gold Beer with a big white cup, high carbonation. Tastes very malty, wheat, bitter hops, alcohol, yeasty character and something fruity.

Arancio, torbida, ampia schiuma pannosa biancastra. Intenso aroma dolce e con note speziate. Al palato malto dolce, continuano le spezie, leggerissimo amaro. Perfetta carbonazione. Alcol ben supporta la bevuta. Grande tripel

Pours a cloudy dirty yellow with a foamy white head that disappears quickly. Aroma of wheat and bread dough. Nice body, clings to the glass, almost syrupy. The taste is concentrated on the center of the tongue. Its not harsh, not sweet or bitter. It has a bread dough taste from the yeast which is not unpleasant. Fairly smooth with just a slight warmth and tingle from the alcohol. Didn’t love it or hate it but I did enjoy it. Somewhat similar to the taste of a German Hefeweizen with a little more body.

Light sweet malt nose with yeast tones. syrupy light malt taste that combines with the hops and yeast to give a cloying waxy finish. Seems like a typical trappist triple and not for me.

Hazy golden with thick creamy head. Yeasty and spicy, but subdued and only slightly fruity compared to other tripels. Slightly sweet, dry and lightly alcoholic finish. Average carbonation, rich smooth palate. Good body and palate but somewhat subdued aromas.
