Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Pours beautiful clear amber with persistent frothy off-white head. Aroma of esters, caramel, flowery hops. Taste is sweet and light sour, light bitter finish. Medium body, alcohol well inserted. Great tripel.

the bottle I drank was cellared by me for over 8 years. The cork had a stamp of 11/06. we drank it on sept.30 2015. wow. smooth, very mild yeast and fruit but complex vanilla/butterscotch/caramel, with a hint of nuts. sip and savor. color was an amber/copper. one of the most amazing ales I’ve ever drank. have numerous chimays over the years and this was the ultimate.

Prima tripel. Heel subtiel, niet te uitgesproken, en juist daarom zo goed.

Gosh I never rated this. Cloudy golden pour into trappist glass. Fruit, a bit of spice, some sugar, a pretty decent trip.

25 oz bottle The ale poured a light amber with a huge white head and lacing. This is a very smooth ale This was enjoyed at a bachelor party in NMB. The ale was dry yet having a spicy bite. It was surprisingly drinkable for me where Belgian ales normally are difficult to consume. The ale had a medium body with average carbonation. The finish was modestly yeasty.
