COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

This secondary fermented ales have neither been pasteurized nor filtered and only natural ingredients are used. Great combination of fresh hops and yeast of the chimay cinq cents.

The aroma is full of bread/yeast, fruit and wheat. The taste is bitter and notes of wheat and fresh hops are present indeed. It feels very smooth on the tongue. The color is hazy golden. A really nice beer!

Hazy amber colour with a white head. Creamy in the mouth and rather gaseous. I hadn’t started typing when it graced me with a burp. Alcohol is rather felt. A well balanced beer which is reliable choice if you are worried that you might offense your friends tongues.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge white foamy head. Lots of lacing. Malty and fruity aroma. Taste is of malts, yeast, bread, hops and fruity notes - especially citrus ones. Full body and high carbonation. Bitter and spicy finish. A lot better than I’d expected.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours a hazy, golden colour that leaves a big, foamy off-white head with long lasting lacing. Aroma of yeasty, banana, spices, fresh lemons, cloves, grass, pine. Taste follows the nose, clove, yeasty and rich in sense of bananas. Bread and peaches. Moderate bitterness from the hops. Light-medium spices. Full bodied, heavy carbonated. Refined, balanced and beautiful creamy mouth-feel. Recommended.

Flasche (75 cl) von BierPost.com, abgefüllt 2010, 3 Jahre im Keller gelagert (MHD: 2013). - Orangegelb, klar; stabile sahnige Schaumdecke.

Bottle at home. Hazy golden with a fluffy white head. Sweet grapey taste with slight bitter aftertaste. Oily texture. Complex yeasty malty beer. Love it.

Appearance: Poured into a chimay glass, 3 finger head that settles to a one finger head slowly, nice lacing, dark golden brown, visible carbonation. Nose: yeasty, cloves, banana, spices, vanilla, bubblegum, hops, raisins, citrus, grass, pine, cedar, Palate: Thick, heavy carbonation at front then becomes creamy. Taste: Banana, grass, strong moderately bitter hops, yeast, something like sprite, slight spiciness. Overall: A complex and interesting hoppy tripel, I feel like I’d have enjoyed more if it was slightly chilled (I’m not drinking this chilled) but still overall a lovely beer, highly recommended.
