COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Alcohilic aroma. Clear golden colour with good head. Alcoholic flavour with vanilla and a smooth finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Very good. Everything from the bottle, to you pour and drink it. Would buy it again.

Tap. Pours golden brown to orange, with a dense, light colored head. Aroma is not so strong, mild toffee and malt, yeast and spices. Quite full bodied, mouth feel is lightly oily to creamy. Carbonation is soft but present. Taste slightly sweet with perfectly balancing bitterness and very very light sourness - just right, well rounded. Flavors of sweet liquor, strong roasted malt, slightly chocolaty, strong cloves, some nutmeg, bitter orange and orange peel, fruits notes , light cooling mint. Amazingly crisp, and tangy, really enjoyable to hold in the mouth:sweetness, tangy alcohol, spice, crisp, cool and lightly carbonated. Warm spices but somehow cooling, slightly alcoholic, but no harsh alcohol flavors at all, mostly pleasantly liquory and winey. After taste is gently bitter, somewhat sticky, slightly sweet, but mostly dry. Great.

Bottle. Clear orange with a creamy white head. Aroma is full, with estery yeast, caramel malt, biscuity, some citrus hop notes. Flavour is more yeasty and spice, a little malt sweetness, decent bitterness too. Oily texture. Finish is very dry, again dominated by yeast and spice. Rather good.

Een heel lekkere tripel met een rijke smaak. De minst bekende van de 3 chimay’s, maar wel een aanrader!

Amber hazy color with large tan head, aromas of citrus and fresh hops, slightly sweet, short subtly-bitter finish, oily texture. Well balanced.

From a bottle. Pours deep cloudy amber with a off white head, big malty aroma with a yeasty note, smooth with a slight hop punch.

33cl bottle into a chalice. Pours a hazy amber with a huge white head which persists, leaving good lacing. Nose is Belgian yeast and malt. Taste is malt and candi sugar, with a smooth finish with a kiss of hop. Delicious.

Bottle pour to Chimay glass. Cloudy, hazy, milky gold. Yeasty. Hints of bitterness and fruit. Creamy and smooth. Very good.
