COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Light and foamy from the tap. Crisp, almost sour flavor for a tripel. Gets more complex and fruity as it sits. A nice tripel for sure.

Starts with a high quality appearance with good lacing. Aromatic leading into a hoppier than anticipated initial taste. Slight sweetness but predominantly bitter...ends smooth.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 Hard to say which is best, blue has more aroma, but this is very easy to drink with no need to think about the strong flavours. Everything about the beer is still present but slightly toned down version of the heavier brother. I like it, they are equal, depends on what You want, tough or easier. Yellow orange haze, stable top, less aroma then the blue, ripe bananas (peach) and sweet, and the taste is similar without much of a change from nose to mouth.

Slightly sweet/sour aroma with a hint of malt. Orange/gold color with persistent light creamy head. Pleasant hop that balances well with the sour - smooth and drinkable.

Head, big, off-white, frothy. Colour: amber and hazy. Aroma: yeast, fruity, honey, but mostly dry. May be a bit of alcohol too. Taste: slightly sweet, mostly dry and a good bit of bitterness. Soft carbonation. Very well balanced and exceptionally easy to drink.
