COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

banana, hay, pale, cloudy, frothy, white foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, creamy, lively. Not bad, but a very heavy white beer...

Tap at Gollem, Antwerp. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is sweet pear, melon, apple, floral, spice, hay and dough. The taste is straw, decent bitterness, dough, floral, spice, herbal notes, light apple, melon, alcohol warmth and a touch of icing sugar. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced. Not my favourite style, but a well-made example nonethess.

Aroma fairly hoppy. Maybe aroma of fruits. Golden amber color. Taste of strong fruits with a long palate.

Very nice and balanced beer. One of the best Tripels I’ve already tasted. It’s a complex beer.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a diminishing off-white big frothy head. Aroma is sweet with coriander, wheat, banana, light raisins, sugar, clove, orange peel, red apple, floral hops and pepper. Taste is light+ sweet and near medium bitter. Body is medium+, texture is creamy/thick, carbonation is moderate. Finishes bitter and quite dry with some warming alcohol and lingering muscat.

Bottle @ home. tra le chimay che si trovano in commercio, è una delle più buone. profumo alcolico, di lievito, e con sentori di luppolo. Molto fresco e invita all’assaggio.

Pours a slightly cloudy very dark orange with a tall white head. Nose has yeast, wheat, herbs and fruits. Taste is sweet at the beginning, leaving a mild trail of hoppy bitterness and the warmth of alcohol at the end. Carbonation is just right. A nicely balanced and pleasant beer.

330ml bottle. Amber body, white head. Blanche is ok, but I prefer the classic blue one, any day.

Hazy orange with big head. Mostly sour yeasty aroma with some vanilla. Taste is spicy and dry, not very longlasting.
