COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beerís flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

This is very creamy, soft and foamy. The taste is very pleasant, "normal", and aroma gets into your nose very nicely. Very easy to drink, so itís not too strong. Probably the best beer Iíve tasted, because Iíve dreamed of creamy beer. This is not too sugary, like many strong beers are. Itís just bread, cereal, nuts, toast, roast, coffee, hay... all but nothing too much. The fruitiness isnít too raisin-like, itís more like spruce - fresh, but very mildly. The end is a bit bitter, but I guess you canít help it, and itís still very mildly bitter. After drinking more, I think this is still a bit too much raisin-like (sweet), but if you drink it normally, and donít let it be in your mouth, itís still fresh and easy to drink.

33cl bottle. A classic. Hints of apple and cinnamon. Alcohol strength doesnít take away from the subtlety of the beer and the flavour. Nice bitter finish but surprisingly refreshing and sweet,
