Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Great aroma and flavor. My first Chimay, so I have nothing to compare to; I read the others are better, but this is quite good. Smooth; delicate malts and yeast; mild fruits. I don’t get much in the way of hops.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

,33l pour from room-temp bottle into a footed pils glass in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Pours a hazy dark orange with ample carbonation and a big foamy white head. The nose is amazing. Sweet, fruity, citrusy, almost a soda-y sweetness. Full body, a little sticky, thick. Taste is great. Fruity, citrus, some honeydew, honey sweetness, floral notes, some bitter hoppy herby taste. All around a great beer.

O que falar de uma chimay? Simplesmente sensacional! Aroma frutado e muito agradável. Cor avermelhada e espuma densa, perfeita! Sabor marcante com amargor na medida certa. Trapppistes!

L: pours a cloudy bronzed orange with a huge pillowy off-white head. S: a modest aroma that recalls a bakery in the morning, bread and yeast, very pleasant. Hints of white grape and a slight alcohol note. T: very nice hoppy taste with Belgian yeast, phenolic tinge, citrus notes, spiced at the end, lights fruits. So well balanced. F: the malt is quite chewy, the body is reasonably light and hides the ABV well, nice peppery carbonation across the palate. O: great drinking, one of the classic tripels, shouldn’t be understated. Another please.

Pours amber with large white head. Sweet citrus and possibly caramel or raisin, as well as bitter hoppy in the mouth, while the most prominent flavour in the finish is bitter hops (but is not dominant). Full and bready in texture. Nice

Pours beautiful clear amber with persistent frothy off-white head. Aroma of esters, caramel, flowery hops. Taste is sweet and light sour, light bitter finish. Medium body, alcohol well inserted. Great tripel.

the bottle I drank was cellared by me for over 8 years. The cork had a stamp of 11/06. we drank it on sept.30 2015. wow. smooth, very mild yeast and fruit but complex vanilla/butterscotch/caramel, with a hint of nuts. sip and savor. color was an amber/copper. one of the most amazing ales I’ve ever drank. have numerous chimays over the years and this was the ultimate.

Prima tripel. Heel subtiel, niet te uitgesproken, en juist daarom zo goed.
