Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Had in a flight. Amazing head with a lot of lacing. Beautiful amber color. Nose is meek, it’s almost not there at times. What is there is good. Taste is a great balance of hoppy bitterness and malty delicious sweet. This is a great beer very belgian. Definitely worth drinking before you die.

330ml bottle dated best before end of 2017 and poured into a Chimay goblet. It poured a hazy copper colour with a two finger cream head that has good retention leaving a thick curtain lacing. There were initial aromas of apple, pear and bready malts followed by sweet banana and honey. Surprisingly strong alcohol taste, but also sweet candied sugar, banana, bread malts and some light apple and pear flavours. It was medium bodied with medium carbonation and a creamy feel. I’m a big fan of Chimay, but this was not one of the better tripel beers. Ultimately I thought that it was too boozy and everything just kind of got lost behind that.

Gotta love those Trappist beers, especially when your girlfriend handpicks them for you. From the bottle, this poured a hazy orange-gold appearance, with plenty of fluffy head. Candy yeast and sweet caramel malt, along with sweet pear and raisin fruity notes, constitute the rich and complex aroma. Taste has the same flavors as just listed, along with a light hoppy bitterness, as advertised. Medium bodied and lower carbonation. Very fresh tasting, moderate flavor intensity makes for a good beer to pair with food. A positive introduction to the Chimay line.

Has a darker golden appearance, a somewhat hazy look. Lots of carbonation. Huge thick foamy head. Aromas of hops and malts. Taste is citrus, hops, some spices. Mouthfeel is yeasty, some sediments are quite visible. This is pretty good stuff, I would drink again for sure. The 8% abv is quite deceiving.

Pours hazy golden with a thick creamy head. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. The nose is fruit driven with moderate spice. Taste is quite similar with moderate clove and fruits. It finishes with a sharp bitterness without any lingering. Great beer

Colore dorato, schiuma cremosa. Odore fruttato e caramellato. Corposa, sapore dolce e fruttato (qualcosa che ricorda lo spumante), finale secco.
