3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled side by side by side with the other chimays. clearish golden straw with good white head. Sweet straw nose with hints of vanilla. Has a bitter grassy hoppiness. Muscatty. definitely my least favorite of the four, but not bad.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: cloudy haze, amber red and great head. Huge malty, fruity lift. Dried fruit. Christmas pudding, raisin, date and dry fig. Dense yet bright. Dry to off dry. Freshness could be slightly sour or acid. Low to moderate bitterness. Chocolate, rich, dense and long flavor. Dried fruit. Caramel. Layers of flavor. Nothing pokes out.
It’s just balanced without any raw obnoxious edges.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours golden and hazy with robust head. Lively carbonation. Yeasty aroma and taste with typical Belgian hops. Some sourness detected. Bitter finish. Similar to the 3-hopped version of Duvel. Nice one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark golden colour, somewhat hazy, with a firm head. Aroma from fruity hops (citrus) and yeast. Taste is hoppy. Hints of banana. A gentle sweetness which disappears for a nice bitterness. Alcoholic (not overwhelming) and dry finish. Recommended.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle 33 cl. Pours hazy yellow with big foamy white head. First sensations are an nice smooth bitterness blending with good Belgium yeast. Notes of banana, raisins, orange, grassy, earthy. This one is pretty straightforward and one dimensional kind of drink. Not as good as i was expecting from a Chimay but very smooth and easy drinkable still.

From a bottle. Clear pale gold with thin white head. Smells great, balanced, dry, notes of raisins and plumbs on the palate ... Deliciously drinkable.
