Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Bottle poured into trappist glass. Appearance is golden amber with a thick off-white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, bread, light malt, and light fruits like banana. Taste follows the nose. Very good, especially for a tripel.

Very well done. Visually couldn’t be better: tall off-white head that stats til the end. Deep golden color. Flavors: peaches, apricots, brioche.

From the bottle poured into snifter pours hazy amber with stable white head. Slightly sour nose, yeasty. Taste is quite bitter, belgian yeast classic Tripel taste... The package however does not amaze me...

0.3 bottle. Pours light brown color with huge, sticky white head. Aroma of flowers, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, intense. Finish is long, high bitter with alcoholic warmth, but quite pleasant despite of this. Well balanced. Full body, lively carbonation.

Brilliant and a great example of the type. Smooth, complex, estery, fruity, warming, apricot. One of history’s great beers.

Light and fruity aroma of yeast. The flavor is fermented, musty, sour and incredibly bitter. Not so good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. This is the grass that I will pour out. Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
