Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

The sweet spicy aromas accompany the thick head and cloudy ale. Another of the superb brews fom the Trappistes. I sampled the small genade shaped 330ml bottle.

Pear and some vanilla in the aroma with definite alcohol as well. Taste is suprisingly rich maltiness and more subtle fruitiness (again, pear) and a strong backbone of spicy and bitter hops. Finishes with a long, lingering sweetness and bitterness. Full bodied, but still finished dry enough to be exceptionally drinkable.

[backlog] 21-01-16 / bottle bought in Belgium, drank at home. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 2.75/5

330ml bottle. BB end 2017 Fruity, malty aroma with Lambic overtones. Hazy amber gold with ice cream head. Very mild bitterness with a mild phenolic finish. Mmmm, yeah not bad.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours orange with a big, white head and lacing. The aroma is wheat, banana, and spice. The taste is wheat, banana, other fruit, and spice. It’s very carbonated. The subtle sweetness mixes well with the slight bitterness. There are slight boozy hints to it. This is a nice beer.

Anders. Kleine Flasche vom Supermarkt in Belgien. Ca.1-1,5€.
