4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A well crafted beer, and something really special for the Greek market, whose lack of a decent smoked beer is kinda prominent. The combination of smoked and roasted malts gives a very tasty and interesting result, one that does not betray loyal beer geeks, but can also be appealing to people less familiar with excessive beer styles.
One can expect great things from the Chios Microbrewery, and this beer is proof.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Strong coffee aroma and taste. Lasting aftertaste. The fact it’s unfiltered and unpasteurized makes it very vivid. The 6.2% too. One of the best craft beers to come out of Greece.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml bottle. BB 02/04/2015. At The Local Pub, Athens, Greece.
Black colour with a tiny red hue and big tan head.
Hops, roasted malt, mild bitterness, mild alcohol boost and some marmalade sweetness in the aroma. Very promising. The flavour is roasted malt, dryness, hickory wood, some sweetness, some alcohol warmth and chocolate. Rich and robust (as the name implies) and very tasty. Best Greek brew so far for me.

(Chios Beer Smoked Robust Porter) Bottle 330 ml at home, from a trade with humlelala, thanks for all the trouble to get me this bottle! Served into a snifter, ABV 6.2%
Black coloured beer, with one full finger of thick and creamy, dark beige head on top. Very good retention. Medium lacing left behind.
Aroma has plenty of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, not much smoke.
Taste of roasted malts, olive pit with light acidity, espresso, lots of coffee actually, not much smoke here, maybe even more faint smoke than the aroma, something that brings to mid peppers.
Medium body, good carbonation.
Very good, one of the greek beers that show the small but steady steps that have been taken in the greek beer scene.
