3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (3101) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 15, 2012
750ml bottle from Springhill Wine & Spirits in North Little Rock, AR. Pours a cloudy, copper-orange colored body with a finger-width, dense, foamy and frothy, dirty tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is spicy rye, sweeter caramel, and a good amount of Belgian yeast. Some yeasty spice, green pepper, touches of toffee, and a light banana bread note. Flavor is papery, Belgian yeast phenols, sweeter caramel with some banana bread, and a light peppery spice up front. Some rye spice, more green pepper, and a hint of citrus. Finishes with a caramel sweetness and rye spice that never seems to fully come together before drying with a light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a medium body and a pretty lively carbonation. Overall, not a bad beer, but not overly enjoyable. Some caramel sweetness with a long rye spiciness and Belgian yeastiness with just a light bitterness. Not really my kind of saison.

Bottle thanks to my friend Jamie: Poured a copper orange color with a fluffy off white head. Aroma is thick sticky fruit, a little metallic and some rye. Taste is sour apples, sweet malt, and a spicy rye finish.

750ml bottle gushed then poured a hazy, light caramel with some frothy, white head. Nose is heavy with grain, chewy malts, biscuit, bread, a little dust. Flavor is malty and sweet, bread, a little bitter green, more brett in the flavor than the nose, caramel. Medium bodied, dry finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ben4321 (2995) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 19, 2012
Location: 750 ml bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 6/19/12, I just added this one and sent in a picture for it, might as well hit the trifecta and review it first too...
Aroma: Nose of Belgian yeast, spice, some funk, a little bit of rye malts, grass, pepper, and a little fruit
Appearance: This one pours a cloudy golden orange color with a half inch sheet of beige head that really doesn’t ever seem to dissipate and some fairly heavy, sheeting lacing on the glass as well
Flavor: This one has a lot of funky/yeasty flavors up-front, there is also some light rye whiskey, with an a underlying sweetness, and a spicy, slightly tart, and mildly bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium-full, it is smooth and creamy, with a soft carbonation, and a lightly dry finish
Overall Impression:
I liked this one quite a bit. Not everything about it works perfectly, but it is a pretty good effort, and a nice collaboration. I’m glad I got to try this one, it is right up there with the best things I have had from Choc.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jesperhammer (2221) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 7, 2012
27-AUG-2012, bottle @Papsø.
Hazy orange with off-white head.
Saison-like spice aroma.
Taste is much more rye and malt. The rye has taken some of the freshness from the saison.
Rye bread and spice. Better on aroma than taste.
High carbonation.

Bottle, 75 cl, at Papsø. Cloudy orange with a small white head. Lots of yeast in the nose. Bready. Phenollic. Notes of orange zest. Sweet malty flavor, spicy, with an edgy, dry, medium bitter, peppery finish.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 bleeng (1372) - Houston nowhere near Beersel, Texas, USA - APR 21, 2013
750 bottled. Pours hazy dark gold with a small with head. Nose is very yeasty, with a bit older stale hops. Taste is the same. Not full flavored. Musty. Alcohol is well hidden. Not exactly a saison. Just OK. It’s what is expected from Choc.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jcos (1175) - Maryland, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Location/Date: Bottle on August 18th, 2012 split with Dave.
Appearance: Pours a dark orange cloud..
Aroma: Aroma of pepper, rye.
Taste: The spice and sweetness of a saison with a light amount of rye.
Palate:Light body, slick, quick finish.
Summary: First off, thanks to Ben for getting me this beer. I really liked this take on a saison by adding rye(which I like in lots of beers).
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 coolpop (1163) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Bomber. Pours a cloudy, nearly opaque medium amber with a large white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is pepper, rye, some fruit. Flavor is lots of spicy, peppery rye, some earthy yeast, a generic fruitiness, some phenols and astringency. Moderately sweet, mild bitterness. The rye adds an interesting twist to a saison, but it also dominates it. Not much saison is left.
