The Belgian-style Dubbel is a beer style crafted by and made famous by the Trappist Monks of Belgium. Our version is deep ruby red and malty with just enough phenols and esters from the Belgian yeast to bring the complex flavors from a beer of this style into balance. A - Pours a hazy garnet with a 1 finger of light-tan head that retains very well. S - A mix of green and red apples, solid caramel background blends with raisins, prunes, figs, spice, with a nutty praline aroma. Hints of dark rum and pine. T - Dark fruit, raisins, Adriatic fig, currants, raw brown sugar, spice, all blend with a candy syrup sweetness with notes of caramel covered bananas. Dense malt backbone layers well with the fruit esters and spice. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, nice dry finish. This is a staple December beer in my house. Bold flavors that are delicately inter-weaved. Very well done. Serving type: bottle 10-17-2011

Faint aroma of caramel and figs. Dark caramel color. Palate is too light. Flavor of fig, sweet caramel and biscuit. Belgian character not as present.

Brought home from Oklahoma -- 12oz bottle into a pint glass pours a ruddy gold with quickly dissipating bubbles. Aroma is light caramel and phenols. Flavor is very pleasant caramel with a hint of yeast funk. The beer is a little light for my preference.

22 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99 in October 2011. Pours a murky brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, Belgian yeast, fruit, apples, some strange citrus, toasted malts, weird.

"super fruity and bready aroma...like a doppelbock on crack. thick feel, but slightly overcarbonated. flavor much the same as the aroma with lots of sweet light fruit, doughy, with a hint of controlled spice. nicely done. thanks to Hannah for the trade

Pours a slightly hazed red brown at start, finishes with a significant amount of chunky sediment. A lot of overripe fruit and dates. Malty body, but overcarbonated and fizzy.

From the 12oz: It’s cloudy, rusty orange/brown with few slight tan bubbles. It smells very sweet, with apricot, banana, caramel, biscuit and alcohol. The flavor is the same; good caramel sweetness with a touch of sour fruit zing and nice toasty bitterness. It finishes with bitterness and a slight hoppy twang. The palate is just south of full, with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, almost prickly carb. I think mine could be a bit young. Fantastic to find in a 12 oz....

Draft. This was a decent belgian style but nothing special. It definitely got better as it warmed up.
