From the 12oz: It’s cloudy, rusty orange/brown with few slight tan bubbles. It smells very sweet, with apricot, banana, caramel, biscuit and alcohol. The flavor is the same; good caramel sweetness with a touch of sour fruit zing and nice toasty bitterness. It finishes with bitterness and a slight hoppy twang. The palate is just south of full, with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, almost prickly carb. I think mine could be a bit young. Fantastic to find in a 12 oz....

Bottle at my grandparents. Pour is murky amber-brown with a big cream head that quickly dissipated. Tangy, dark fruity, vegetal, licorice, toffee, caramel, stale bready aroma. Taste is dark fruits, caramel, bready, toffee, cooked vegetables, tangy, red grapes, weird husky, and grainy. Medium mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Not a very good Dubbel and really has some off flavors.

A steady pour into my teku glass produces a two-finger thick, light amber tinged, tan colored head. The beer is a pretty, bright, concentrated amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, incredibly bright, amber hue when held up to the light. The beer smells of fig jam, pureed raisins, molasses soaked brown bread, some spicy clove notes in the finish, as well as some toasted, caramelized brown grain aromatics.
The beer has a soft sweetness that is not as much as the fruit-laden nose might have suggested. The beer is fairly light bodied, but it is not thin, and does have some chewiness to it that I actually like here; the carbonation is light, but persistently prickly. There are soft nutty notes that work well with rich dark fruit notes that lean towards raisins, perhaps some candied cherries and touches of figs. This sort of reminds me of a moist, molasses soaked, whole grain bread studded with dark candied fruit that is not overly sweet. A bit of oxidation seems to be contributing to the flavor profile here, the nuttiness definitely comes from this, and there is a rounded sherry like note and perhaps a hint of port like character as well.
Not bad, actually better than I was expecting.

750 mL bottle from Ale Yeah, Roswell. Pours a clear dark red-brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, brown sugar and mild dark fruits. The taste is toffee, berries, raisins, brown sugar, yeast. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, faint booze. Nice beer.

7/30/13. 22oz bottle that looks like a 750 bottle... weird. Got it from the Piggly Wiggly in Fairhope. Cracked with a big hiss... didn’t pour right away and the khaki foam slowly started coming out of the bottle. Be careful. Deep amber, lots of red, under a big foamy khaki head (see above) that fades fast. Burnt toffee aroma, bread, caramel, and a bit of fruity esters. Sweetish flavor, toffee and caramel malts, a bit of burnt/roast, hints of vanilla, and lingering creme brulee. Not bad.

750 ml corked and caged bottle (gusher warning blew the cork as I was untwisting the cage) poured a hazy reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, brown sugar, toffee and spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, brown sugar and spice with a smooth lingering spiced carmel finish.

A - Pours a hazy garnet with a 1 finger of light-tan head that retains very well.
S - A mix of green and red apples, solid caramel background blends with raisins, prunes, figs, spice, with a nutty praline aroma. Hints of dark rum and pine.
T - Dark fruit, raisins, Adriatic fig, currants, raw brown sugar, spice, all blend with a candy syrup sweetness with notes of caramel covered bananas. Dense malt backbone layers well with the fruit esters and spice.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, nice dry finish.
This is a staple December beer in my house. Bold flavors that are delicately inter-weaved. Very well done.

Poure lightly hazy, dark brown-amber from a 22 oz bottle., Had a huge, medium density, tan head on top that settled fairly quickly.
Smell: Bready with dark fruits and subtle chocolate. [Served too cold, probably impairing the aroma and flavor.]
Taste: WAY more like a Belgian quad than expected, with a alcohol presence that seemed more like 9%. Also seemed more like a barrel-aged beer than one would expect. The apparent booziness is not unwelcome, and seems to add complexity, if perhaps overwhelming some more subtle flavors.
Mouthfeel: Medium+ body with medium-high carbonation; harsh for style.
Overall: A pretty good, but not great, example of the dubbel style; Compared to a true Belgina dubbel, this one has a more intense flavor (more like a quad) and, perhaps, is slightly less aromatic.
