Biere de Garde is a traditional artisanal farmehouse ale from the northern region of France. The name literally translates to beer which has been kept or lagered, typically brewed in the spring and Guarded for warm weather consumption. Our version is malt focused; bottle conditioned and in the Amber style. Please enjoy Brewmasters Signature Series beer #1.

Bottle from soonah. Thanks! Pours a very orange and cloudy with a thin and quickly dissipating head. Aroma is yeast and citrus with maybe a little bit of grass thrown in. None of the maltiness this pretends to have in the aroma. But it looks malty! We’ll see shortly! Taste is caramel, cereal and honey. Sweet with a sour balance. Light and lively. Something seems to be a bit off in the body but overall a very nice beer.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Hazy copper-orange, thin off-white head. Moderate sweet Belgain ale aroma, slight caramel notes. Sweet grain taste, mild caramel, light spice. Decent, no real distinct flavors aside from malt sweetness.

Another bottle busted out by Deuane. A - Pours murky amber brown with a small half finger tall white head leaving light lace down the glass. S - Smells of light spice, graham cracker caramel malt, candied sugar, and some dulled fruit like pears and apples. Not too bad so far. T - Starts off with a bit of candied sugar sweetness quickly giving way to a mix of graham cracker caramel malt, dulled fruit, and some light spice. A bit too thin for my liking. The finish is a mix of sweetness and light fruitiness, lingering for a short period of time. M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. A bit thin in the feel with some lingering sweetness in the finish. O - I am not sure how old this one is but either way it was not too bad but it isn’t something I would go seeking out.

750 from Ale Yeah in Decatur. Dark for a Biere de Garde. Slight farmhouse aroma, but taste is mostly malt and amber. Not really biere de garde (though not a style...but still) that I would recognize.

Hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish slightly off-white head. Aroma of grass, fresh malt and a good dose of hops. Medium-bodied; Sharp fresh grassy hops taste strong along with some malt and a bit of perfumey scents. Aftertaste shows a bit more complexity with coriander seed and a bit of spice, but mostly malt. Overall, a good strong flavoured beer that shows well, especially in the summer! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Sam’s Warehouse Liquor in Oklahoma City, OK on 13-February-2008, drunk after my first round of golf ever on 07-August-2008.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a pinkish color with white fizzy head. Aroma of citrus, apples. Flavor has a little sweetness, faint fruit, and some malt. Light body, fizzy carbonation. It’s ok.

A: poured into a snifter. It pours a beautiful amber color which leans more towards the red side. Good head retention and a decent amount of lacing. S: A mix of sweet and sour. some sauerkraut, as well as some sweet breakfast malts. A hint of fruit and spices. T: slight cabbage flavor. Very sweet malts. Very interesting biere de garde. Caramel and kind of fruity. A little too sweet for the style. M: Very smooth and palate pleasing. Good carbonation level. D: its drinkable, but not a good representation of style. Almost takes like a belgian blond.
