COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison, the farmhouse ale from Belgium, was originally brewed for the field workers of Wallonia, the country’s French speaking region. Our version begins with a blend of European pilsner malts, a touch of wheat and Noble hops. These ingredients provide a vibrant pallette allowing the expressive Saison yeast to create a truly unique flavor profile.

Smells boozy at first, then some earthy with some tropical fruit, perhaps banana. Banana flavor, like an earthy hefe. Weird. Not for me.

22oz bottle 11/25/11 (Jack’s Mountain Home)48° in Tulip-Pours a murky orangish amber with a big off white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, yeast, pepper, and grass. Taste of the same with a bit more citrus and yeast coming through. This medium bodied brew is not bad. Goes down very easy. Nice job.

Review from notes yesterday: Bottle I brought to share at Woodshop. This was a great extra from a kind BA named BeerBoy9960. Smell is some cracked wheat, mix of dried/fresh grass, and some mellow fruity apple/pear sauce funk. Tree-born fruit flavors with some tang of potent lemongrass, some spicing that was so light it; somewhere between veggies/pickled ginger. Good mouth feel with some alcoholic perk that upped the intensity a bit. Slow evaporation dryness. I was a fan of this one.

Bottled. Pours a hazy gold with a nice blooming white head. Aroma is pepper, peaches, and grain. Light spicyness, grass, sweet fruit flavor on soft carbonation. Solid effort.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 6/22/11

Aroma: The nose has a good amount of sour yeast, along with floral anf fruity notes
Appearance: The pour is a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a fomay white head
Flavor: The taste is bretty up-front, with a light sweetness and a light bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a fairly lively carbonation to it, and a fairly dry finish
Overall Impression: I wasn’t expecting it really, but this one feels like a brett beer. It is actually pretty sour, which I didn’t expect to see here. I figured an Oklahoma saison would be pretty boring, but this one actually had some character to it. Choc surprised me here, most of their stuff that I have triedn wasn’t too exciting or well made, but this one was really solid.

Bottle i brought to RBWG bought in a store in Little Rock, AR-pours orange with a fizzy white head. plastic woody nose, phenolic bandaid. plastic and phenols dominate the flavors. not very complex, but come on, its a saison brewed in OKLAHOMA!!!! what are you going to expect? lite spice on the finish with a little bitterness. not bad considering the brewer and the location. probably the only saison brewed in OK.

Bottle from last summer. Brilliant amber color/ viscous ivory head. Nice bready pale wheat, pale malt, spicy dry yeasty Saison aromas. Light bodied with above average co2. Pils malt, dry straw, pale wheat, dry spicy peppery flavors with mild light fruits, celery, sulfer--very good.

(22oz bottle thanks to ericandersnavy) clearish yellow, fine white bubbles. Nose of belgian yeast, florals, reminds me of Fantome yeast, oranges. Taste of oranges, brett, florals. Well carbonated body, sticky herbal finish.

Orange pour with creamy off white head and lace. Aroma of bread and Belgian yeast. Brown sugar, a light sour, and a hinto cinnamon. A tad thin and fizzy.
