A nice light stout. Little complexity for the palate just a simple, easy to drink dark beer.

Pours a dark brown almost black with tan head. Roasted malt, nuts, and some light cocoa on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a slightly sweet note.

BOSSbrewer (1592) - Arkansas, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Pours very dark brown with two fingers of tan head. Aroma is hoppy rather than roasty. Flavor also is hoppy and bitter with some mild roastiness on the finish. Some dark chocolate also. Not quite to style but a decent beer. Medium to lighter bodied. Nice lacing on the glass.

robbeebobby (55) - newark, Arkansas, USA - JAN 14, 2014
Pours a dark brown/black with a small tan head. The aroma is like a dark burnt malt mixed with fruits. The taste is almost like a burnt American pale ale but blander with bitterness. There is medium carbonation and overall not that great of a stout.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges slowly and laces. Aroma has a combination of strong roasted malts and dark grains backed by chocolate and a touch of smoke. Flavor is similar with roasted malts and dark grains throughout with just a hint of smoke in the finish.

Black with a tan head. The aroma is full of smoke, chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is more of the same. The roasted malt and chocolate notes stand out the most but there is also some light smoke. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours pitch black with a large tan head. Smells a bit chocolaty and a little hoppy. Taste is chocolate, hints of coffee, and bitter. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and average mouth-carbonation, Choc Winter Stout finishes with a lingering tingle.

Short, 12oz twist-off bottle. Pours very dark. Black, dark brown head. Very sweet, dark malts, fruit sugars, and distant licorice. Tastes burnt. Charred grain, burnt malt, roast. Finished with a coffee roast character. Very bold. A nice Stout. (3753)

chinchill (1796) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 12, 2013
2012-13 12oz bottle served in a snifter at about 55F.. A good looking stout with an opaque, brown-tinged, black body topped by a well-proportioned, partially durable, mocha tan head. Lacing blankets the glass with every tip. Traces of sediment in the bottle after the pour. Aroma: Notably hoppy, with more hop aroma than dark malts. Spicy with a hints of citrus and pepper. Taste: The hops added a nice spicy tone to the rich dark-roasted malts that dominate the flavor. Medium+ and "chewy" body with well-chosen, soft, medium carbonation. O: A fine, hoppy American style stout, although lacking the punch to deserve classification as an imperial stout.

A - Reddish/brown head on top of motor oil black body. S - Roasted espresso, pine and dried grapefruit rind, cocoa, T - Follows the nose with fresh roasted espresso, roasted malts, green pine needles, cocoa. Citrus hops blast in on the finish to create a very fresh and clean bitterness. M - Medium body with moderate tight carbonation. Very focused flavors. The espresso flavor really stands out as fresh and high end tasting. The citrus and cocoa play off each other very well. The end result is a fantastic stout. Just did a blind taste test with this and 2 other very good stouts. Serving type: bottle 11-26-2011
