4000th rate! Happy it’s a DC brew. 4oz pour at the brewery. Pours a watery deep mahogany with some creamy beige head. Nose is neat, malty, toasty, waxy, almond. Flavor is malty, sweet, cracker, toast, a little brown sugar, a little tamarind. Clean finish. I thought I would hate this, but it was decent. Good swartz.

Tap at Iron Horse tap room. Pours clear deep cola ruby. Weak head. Roasty, coffee, schwarzbier nose, some vanilla. Taste is similar, very lactic, tart, coffee, roasty, big lemon. Easy to drink. Not true to style.

On tap at RFD. This is a brown colored brew with a mildly vegetal aroma and hints at toffee and tame roast. Tastes basically like it smells: toffee, toasted brown sugar. It’s a malt forward brew, though not heavy on the palate. Metallic hints and bready notes round out things. Um, it aight. I’d recommend more interesting fare next time.

Tasting at 6th and I...last time I go to one of those...professor from AU talks while I wait for beer. I do not like that professor. And I didn’t like this beer either. Mildly carbonated very thin brown. Some slight roast, no crispness to the aftertaste, just sort of flat. Tastes like spoiled mexican beer.

Had 2 drafts at The Diner in Adams Morgan. I was surprised how good this was. Carbonation tasted nice. Body not too heavy for a beer this dark, and an agreeable taste.

Draft. Extremely dark brown color, massive thick tan head, solid lacing. Nice aroma of brown bread. Taste is dilute caramel with decent balance. Light body. Not bad at all.
