Serving: Draft at RFD. It pours a hazy copper color with a small head. The nose is light malt, a little bread, earthy hops. The flavor reminds me of a bready altbier. There is a slightly metallic finish. Smooth and pretty drinkable. Unfortunately a little lackluster in flavor.

Picked up a growler of this last weekend. Dark orange pour with a white head. Aroma is sweet malty with very little hop character. Flavor was overly sweet and a little cloying. I’m excited to have this brewery locally, but I was a bit disappointed with this offering from them.

Growler. Hazy amber color, medium tan head, scant lacing. Aroma of caramel. Taste has a caramel start, slightly bitter finish. On the plain side, but not bad for an initial offering.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 mansquito (1818) - washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 9, 2011
Argonaut, DC tap ($6): Pours a cloudy light brownish color with a quickly disappearing loose head. Aroma is of homebrew. Taste is of homebrew. It seems like this brewery still needs to figure out what it is doing becuase this beer just tastes unprofessional. I’m not saying that it is bad, but rather that it just has that sugary, yeasty taste that homebrew usually does. Needs some work to be a proper cornerstone.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (3961) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 22, 2011
Growler thanks to EricE sampled at Shenandoah Throwdown. The pour is a clear amber with a thin, white head. Nose is sweet cherry, fresh apple, opening up into small peach ice cream. More intense apple piling on but nothing off like acetaldehyde. Taste is thinner, soapy, mild butter. Somewhat bitter. Mouthfeel is powdery and weak. Still needs some work.
