3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 cranesareflying (50) - Evanston, USA - JUN 1, 2002
Drinking this beer reminds me of the Standells song, “Dirty Water,” “Oh I love that dirty water…” featuring the fabulous line, “I’d like to say time for my baby to walk around…”
anyway, this IS like drinking muddy water, as the golden brown color is very cloudy and dirty looking, with a malty perfumed aroma, a beer that by all accounts is subtle and complex, slightly sweet, slightly fruity, perhaps a dried fruit, like apple, raisin or prune, a unique bock flavor which I liked better initially, but not so much with each successive sip, ends with a kind of dry coffee finish.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 GSAP (84) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 18, 2012

Bottle. Gushed a bit. Clear dark amber with an off white head. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, hints of spices. Creamy mouthfeel. Rich mouthfeel is lightened by creamy texture and light carbonation. Taste has caramel, some chocolate and lots of stewed and dried fruits. There’s a little plummy sourness too. Spicy bitterness seems meek at first but builds in a long finish. Very agreeable, balanced and alive.

Very dark brown, a nice sized and holding head. Malty, spiced, hops. Nicely dark fruits and caramel. Decent.
