3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
21st Oct 2012: Cafe De Grendelpoort in Valkenburg, on-tap, along with a host of others in a ’Bok Fest’.
Pours a dark brown colour which isn’t mirky but it isn’t clear either. On top a thin layer of white foam.
The aroma was of over roasted malty molasses and yeastiness.
The yeast and sweetness from the molasses carried on into the taste nicely. There was also a distinct liquorice finish to this brew, so much so I had to have another to make sure!
Very pleasant and tasty, body strength good and well carbonated.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rating from 2009; 6,66%, 75cl. Sehr lecker! 12/13/12/12

Expected more of it after reading the ratings over here. Well balanced full bodied bok, but at the same time not impressing. Not that much better than some regular commercial supermarket bocks to me. Still: very enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Spuyt. Pretty, clear dark red pour with creamy off white foam. Aroma is quite yeasty, notes of clove, cinnamon, light toasted malt and pear. Taste is malty, spicy, clove, licorice with a strong belgian yeast finish. Palate is light-med bodied with med carbonation. Easy drinking.

Bottle from Albert Heijn. Another marked-down bargain! Deep brown, super-fizzy. Fruitcake and chestnuts on the aroma. Same again in the taste - fruit and spice. Touch of yeasty spice on the finish, along with light hop bitterness. Reasonable.
