21st Oct 2012: Cafe De Grendelpoort in Valkenburg, on-tap, along with a host of others in a ’Bok Fest’. Pours a dark brown colour which isn’t mirky but it isn’t clear either. On top a thin layer of white foam. The aroma was of over roasted malty molasses and yeastiness. The yeast and sweetness from the molasses carried on into the taste nicely. There was also a distinct liquorice finish to this brew, so much so I had to have another to make sure! Very pleasant and tasty, body strength good and well carbonated.

33cl bottle @ home from bier-winkel.com. Body is clear dark reddish brown color Head is medium, creamy, brownish, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is floral, Aroma is caramel, honey, spice, slightly roasted malt. Taste is medium sweet, light roasty bitter, light sour. Finish is medium lasting sourish bittersweet. Medium body, sticky texture, lively carbonation. Easy, spicy bockbeer.

Ambrée, presque brune. Assez équilibrée, trop probablement, c’est difficile de trouver du caractère, quelque chose qui s’en dégage. Agréable cela dit.

Bottle 33cl. Clear deep amber brown, small frothy beige head, recedes after a while to a lasting creamy layer, good lacing; aroma sweet malty, roasted, dark fruits, brown sugar, caramel; taste moderate sweet and bitter, roasty; medium body, oily to watery texture, average carbonation, finish dry bittersweet, spicy notes; overall too thin and watery, I expected more from d’Achouffe.

Zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter met sporen van chokolade en caramel. Helaas wat waterig.

33 cl bottle. Appearance:Dark ruby with a small beige head. Aroma: Caramel and cookies.vegetal hops. Taste: Quite thin, Sweet malt, brown sugar, low bitterness, a bit sugarry water with alcohol. Except it’s thicker. Thin- Medium body, average carbonation. Dissapointing compared to the other Brasserie d’Achouffe brews.

Drank during tasting in Molenhoek with Rik, Bram, tijs, thierry, and Lennart. Beer has not very much taste. Dark beer. Very easily drinkable but not special.

33 cl bottle. Pours a dark ruby with a small biege head. Aroma is mocha and cookies. Sweetish malt, brown sugar, low bitterness and light fruitiness. Medium bodied, effervescent, slightly alcoholic and not too interesting. OK..

Bottle 33cl. Deep brown, almost black with a medium light brown head. Aroma has malts and sweetness. Taste is very refreshing. No overpowering sweetness or bitterness. Just right. One of the better bock beers this year.

Bouteille 75cl de Geers, shared with Tomaz. BB 09/2014.
