Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Chouffe Houblon Dobbelin IPA Tripel: Pours light gold with excessive white cottony foam head. Aroma is of funk, spice, and citrus. As I renew the pour to top off the foam rises like on a latte; incredible. Odd flat flavor at first, that then moves to solid citrus, lemon and piney-spice refreshment. It’s good. A little odd, but good.

Bottle - 760ml. Hazy pale blond body topped with a huge white frothy/bubbly head. Fresh hoppy aroma with coriander, citrusy and yeasty hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Taste is anything but a blast of hoppiness. It ends with a long, robust, dry bitter/herbal finish. This is truly brewed for real hops lovers.

750ml bottle from SAQ. Poured yellow with huge white fluffy head with gorgeous lacings. Aroma is malty and citrusy. Some hops and spices also. Some hints of dust came near the end. Very fresh aroma. Taste is spices, malt, citrus and faint hops. Carbonation is good. Some hints of alcohol on the finish. Becomes a bit more alcoholic at the end. A bit disappointed by that brew. To me this is a lot more on the tripel side than on the IPA side and I’m not a big fan of tripels. Will get another sample to re-rate. Re-rate, on tap at Delirium, Bruxelles. Pours hazy yellow, small head, short retention. Great lacing. Aroma is malty, citrusy and hoppy with hints of mango. Very fresh. Taste is citrusy, malty, hoppy and quite bitter. Good aroma overall but taste leaves something to be desired. Overall pushed from 13 to 14.

From tap, the La Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel. The beer looks hazy, with a beautiful yellow colour and a nice white head lasting the whole beer. Served in a beautiful glass. The aroma goes lemon and hoppy (a bit bitter also). The taste is fruity, lemon and yeasty and hoppy, which carbonates the beer nicely with a bitter aftertaste. Also a refreshing beer.

from tap in ’poatersgat’ Brugge, golden colour and fluffy and creamy, wonderfull white and very stable head. Smell: very spicy and malty. Taste:very bitter, grassy, malty, hoppy, spicy, citrus. It’s a very refreshing beer but a bit too sharp for me. I had high expections but I’m a bit disappointed.

On tap at Cafe Bos in Amsterdam. Light yellow body with nice tall head. Citrus nose. Prickly mouthfeel. Taste of citrus. Spice coming in at the end. Quite subdued for an IPA. Warms at the end. Enjoyed two of these and felt a bit overwhelmed on a nice, warm day.

Pours a light golden color, with a huge head. Taste is fine with some hops, but not much of an IPA.
