Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

A decent/classic belgian tripel calls for a balanced hop/malt/fruity flavor. The bitterness and the alcohol must be the counter taste of the slightly spicy flavor. Here’s the thing. Not so spicy tripel meets high heels americans hops in a classic La Chouffe Style base. Wow. It’s Bruxelles DC ! On tap > Bottle

Bottle Pours a cloudy yellow with lots of floatie particles. Has a foamy white head which seems to last forever. Good lacing on the glass, like rings on a tree. Aroma of fruit, flowers, and perfume. Is very carbonated. Has a good balance of all the flavors. Not too sweet or to hoppy. Has a dry texture. The alcohol is well hidden. This beer seems to be lighter than it is. A medium body. A decent finish, with a nice aftertaste. This is differnt but tasty.

Golden beer, light sediment floats, although there is a major pile in these. Huge, frothy, head. Active carbonation. Great aroma,of hops, yeast, and malts. The hops are big in aroma, but the yeast and malts are easy to pick up. Mouth is just a little to fizzy for me,but slick for strong beer. Initial dryness, with a great malt, yeast interplay. Finish is lemon grass hoppy, slightly citric, and the yeast and alcohol(only touch),mix well together. Very tasty

Cloudy golden appearance with a thick frothy off-white head. Aroma is of citrus, yeast, dough, and peaches. Taste is of orange, citrusy hops, dirt, grass, earth.

Sample at 3rd Annual Great Austin Belgian Beer Festival on May 16, 2009. Losing memory for the review (too many samples by this time), but I did manage to write down the numbers. Wow, this one was good. Nose was a little sour and yeasty. A lightly astringent flavor with hop notes. Alcohol is apparent. Great job trying to mix an IPA with a tripel...

Clear yellow. Light amount of hops. Fruity yet holds the bitter finish attributed to hops. Interesting to say the least. Extremely dry finish however. Meh, this didn’t do much for me.

0.75L bottle. huge extremely thick head that lasts for ages and looks and feels almost solid, golden colour. Aroma made of tropical fruit, peach whiff of rose petals and a pronounced flavour of vanila pod. svery strong hoppy bitterness with flavours of grapefruit and lemon. the bitterness is so overpowering that it becomes a bitter aftertaste of extreme lenght that does not fade for a long time

Bottle. Pours transparent, golden with a fantastic, foaming white head and lots of lacing. The lacing is super dense like a cloud of fog across the whole glass. Carbonation is light. Head is really densely thick, beautiful. There’s apricot in the aroma with something herbal (juniper?), some alcohol, light hops, wood. Mouthfeel is resinous, coating, smooth. The flavour has strong hop bitterness up front, juniper, pine. It has a gin like quality. There’s lemon and other hints of citrus fruits, a wonderfully subtle taste of grains, then a light hop finish.
